Thoughts please on .ca vs .com

The .com domain is the one in greatest demand, but Canadian escorts, simply by being here, are thought of highly by travelling Americans.

So, would the .ca domain be better from a marketing point of view? Should the .com be grabbed as well and resolved to the same ip?

Thoughts please

Paul - IMHO - I really don't think it matters - most site traffic is generated by links from either search engines or in this case SP wise from links from other sites like terb or an escort directory. Either domain name .com or .ca is fine for this.

Ideally you want both the .com and .ca to resolve to the same IP, and incidentally, depending where you shop, the .com domains are not that expensive these days. CIRA holds some sort of monopoly on .ca domains and they are a bit more expensive. So, considering the marketing advantages, purchasing both domains is a small price to pay.

Dot ca is for canadian sites so you could use it but they cost about $12 more per year. In my business traffic is a direct result of promotion not search engines but this may not apply for sp's. I use a .com for my site but it really does not matter. If I were an sp I would use .org for its obvious benefits.

If you are considering domain names for business purposes, the cost of buying up multiple versions (.com, .ca, etc.) is minor compared to the other costs of building and hosting a web-site. Why not spend a few dollars more per year (it's under $30!) and keep your unique name for yourself.

Some people do searches by typing in the name of a company followed by .com. It's only to your benefit to have this domain locked up. The same goes for .ca and any other suffix you think your customers might try.

You should also consider what Sheik suggested above: if your company is called big blue widgets try to register:

bigbluewidgets.com
big-blue-widgets.com
bb-widgets.com

...and so on.

BBW.com is already gone, but not by what you'd think. It's a company called Bath & Body Works which followed this pattern.

Until fairly recently, .ca was restricted to organizations that had a presence in more than one province. I guess a travelling escort could have had a .ca domain, even then. Now it's less restricted, so I guess it's just a matter of your preference. Having said that, it would seem as though someone who wanted to be seen as being Canadian should prefer a .ca domain, even if they parallel it with a .com that resolves to the .ca. It's not that expensive, after all.

I would add that you might consider registering your kids names. For example: john.ca, or jill.ca. You never know how famous they may become, and it will save you $$$$ later.

Personally, I know people that have already done this. The Canadian clients of mine forward the ca to the com due to the global nature of their business.

dot ca for canadians

Before I had to have a .mb.ca because the .ca were reserved. I had no problems obtaining obtaining my .ca . I used to also have a .co.uk which is a great help if you travel.

Dot. com 's dont help in figuring things out. But a regional URL helps imprint to the gentleman, "oh right the canadian one"
