more boring than Wayne? that would really take some doingscouser1 said:also one of the most boring personalities and biggest jerks in sports, he is about as entertaining in an interview as watching paint dry.
if Tiger isnt crippled or doesnt die he will speed past Jack faster than you can say 'go'spiff said:No he's not... Jack is!!! About 40 more tour wins including ten majors and yes he will be the greatest ever.....![]()
of course is seems that way because Tiger is still in his 20s and has long career ahead of him health permitting. Correct me if I am wrong but hasnt he achieved more than Jack at a comparative stage. I know that doesnt count for much but just wondering.DonQuixote said:Jack N. won 18 major championships.
Tiger's a Kitten compared to the Golden Bear.
Jeesh. If the golfer didn't play during their lifetime
it's as though he didn't play and never existed.
Tiger's pace is somewhat ahead of Jack's. Nothing huge, though. It will be interesting to watch over the next 10 years.franky66 said:of course is seems that way because Tiger is still in his 20s and has long career ahead of him health permitting. I would like to know how the game has changed? I still think the idea is to hit the ball into the hole.......Asterix said:Tiger should likely pass Jack, but who knows. The game has changed so much, and I think Jack consistently had better competition, when you think of Palmer, Player, Trevino, Watson. I was glad to see Michelson win the PGA, but god his sheepishness is frustrating to watch. I don't know how many more majors he has in him. Vijay is very good, but in his forties. Els is hurt and Garcia seeming to have hit a wall. Davis is clearly on the downside of his career. If no one else comes up to challenge him, I could easily see Tiger getting 20 majors, or more. This doesn't take anything away from him, but simply reflects there may not be enough rivals up to the challenge. If he stays healthy, I think he'll one day not too far off, be considered the best that was. The only thing I think will stop him, is if he gets bored, and figures that the the hundreds of millions he's accumulated, enough. The money paid to individuals in sports today is truly insane.
Certainly the technolgy changes to the equipement, clubs and balls, have made for a much longer game and changed thw way courses are now played and the types of shots possible. Conditioning was something golfers rarely took into account 40 years ago, look at all the pictures of Arnie out on the course with a cigarette in his mouth. The point is that if a player is disiplined, he can extend his ability to play at the top for many years, as Tiger is doing, and have a chance at winning more tournaments. Also I think the huge money amounts and the media focus have a direct affect that is far more intense than when, say, Jack was in his prime. It is the same in any sport. Compare how tennis was played 30 years ago, especially women's tennis, with how it is played now. Watch NBA footage from the 60's and compare it to today. This is why it is difficult, and in some ways unfair, to compare athletes in any given sport across generations. I remember Nicklaus' comment a few years back when Tiger was on his rise, "he plays a game with which I am not familiar".Peace4u said:I would like to know how the game has changed? Actually, Nicklaus stole that line from Bobby Jones who said it about......................................................Nicklaus.Asterix said:I remember Nicklaus' comment a few years back when Tiger was on his rise, "he plays a game with which I am not familiar".
Thanks shack, I hadn't heard that, and even further illustrates how the game changes.shack said:Actually, Nicklaus stole that line from Bobby Jones who said it about......................................................Nicklaus.
His sense of humour. If I'm going to spend 6 hours on a golf coarse, I want to have a few laughsAsterix said:Personally I'd pick Peter Jacobson. That would be fun. Just out of curiosity, why Daly.
I'd pick one of the seoul sisters. Maybe Grace Park or Mi Hyun Kim. Maybe even Jennifer Rosales who is not a seoul sister but is definitely hot.Ref said:If I could only play one round of golf with a pro it would have to be with Daly.
Care to back that up? What makes him boring? He does his interviews, is polite, respectful and courteous most of the times....scouser1 said:also one of the most boring personalities and biggest jerks in sports, he is about as entertaining in an interview as watching paint dry.
