i feel a little silly posting this, but what the hay. its time you knew a little bit about my geek adventurer side.

Celest and I have a pastime we call barn hunting. basically we rent a car and drive out to the country to explore old abandon houses and barns. we are respectful, so save me the trespassing speech. ;)

we bring along our camera and make it an artistic endeavor, taking photos as we go. some of the pics we have taken have appeared on my website (did i mention we like to get naked in the right type of light?)

anyway. it is one of our favorite things to do.
we have always explored the mono mills orangeville area, with great luck. typically we find 5-6 properties to explore, some so beautiful they take our breath away.

Tomorrow may be our last trip before it gets too cold. I was hoping for suggestions from folks that live in the country, for areas to explore. those that drive often might notice them...

there is nothing worse then driving around all day only to find one place.

we are interested in places/areas within an hour or two of toronto..

thanks in advance for indulging me!

I think it is living in the Sticks calling country people hicks is a bit rude .I have seen them call people from the city cityits because they will make statements like "doesn't water just come out of a tap what is well you speak of " "Doesn't the City do that "? and so on.

I live in both the city and country but I do not know of any farms or building that are not occupied around me

I would be happy to chauffeur and hold the camera though

Try Terra Cotta, Inglewood (the moon).

To me I'm surprised there are unattended old farm house in those neck of the woods, Usually they are all bought up and bigger homes are built.

I live in that general area with lots of land, many can suggest to go hear and there, but it is what you like. There are allot of back roads in that area and you can find hidden gems.

If funny though people can make fun of other because of the "Country Life" but it is mostly Toronto people selling their homes from the "city life" and moving out here, so I guess that is a double statement, anyway. Hope you find what you're looking for. Who knows I'm in my late 20's, so i don't know nothing...lol

Take Care,

Prince Edward County is a good call but a bit far... Take the 410 and continue on to Heartlake Road.. lots of barns and scenery. Fairly private.

Closer to home: Toronto Islands during the week nearly deserted. Also, the Brickyard off the Bayview extension. Have shot pix both places.

Best spots I'd say are Alberta and Northern BC.
