Tom Lehrer, song satirist and mathematician, dies aged 97

Maybe a little too much of a blast from the past for most readers, but he was great back in the sixties. Loved him. RIP

This man has been a hero of mine since I was introduced to his music by my very cool grade 6 teacher. A true genius in two vastly different fields. The greatest writer of humourous songs (along with Shel Silverstein).

Thanks to PBS I learned about him a few years ago. I was stunned by how clever and witty the writing was, and how well it was delivered. RIP.

He was big in Denmark. I went to one of his concerts in Tivoly Concerthall.

When somebody asked him why he had stopped making records, he answered the satire died when Kissinger received the Nobel prize.
