LEAVE YOUR DANGLERS ALONE
According to the Telegraph, a ruling recently handed down by
Italy’s supreme court has banned men from grabbing their
goodies in public. So, you know how some folks here in the true
north strong and free sometimes say “knock on wood” or “touch
wood” and then touch something wooden to ward off bad luck?
Well, if you’re an Italian guy it seems your version of this is to
grab your package—which, if you think about it, could also
involve the touching of wood, if you follow. Anyhow, they do this
to ward off the evil eye, when talking about sickness, et cetera
and so forth. But the Italian supreme court’s ruling says a guy
indulged in an “act contrary to public decency” when he was seen
“ostentatiously touching his genitals through his clothing.” The
guy was fined, and now handling your man–bits is a big no–no,
apparently. The article says the guy claimed he was grabbing at
his nethers because his overalls were uncomfortable, which leads
me to wonder how the Telegraph got off on this whole “touch
your nuts for luck” tangent. But I’m glad they did, for two
reasons. First, we got to talk a lot about nut–touching today,
which was nice. And secondly, while discussing luck the
Telegraph article explained in passing something I’d always
wondered about: Why some people consider it bad luck for a hat
to be on a bed. Apparently, while a priest is delivering the last
rites, he puts his hat on the bed. And voila. Hats on beds equal
bad luck. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle."
