This dated article refers to a draft.

Have we entered this agreement and is there another draft?

Harper has already instigated ludicrous copyright laws making it illegal for you to make your own copy of your purchased music. The monitoring of user content not only is an infringement of basic freedom but the US is laying ground work now to set up a revenue stream so that your content can be charged and regulated by providers much the cable television is now. This is a fundamental lick in the nuts to the original open free internet network. The motivation of the government is to get internet providers to gather information on users but they will need an economic incentive to get providers do this.

By: Ronald Labonté Ashley Schramm Published on Fri Feb 21 2014

"When trade ministers from 12 countries, including Canada, meet in Singapore on Feb. 22 to continue negotiating a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, they should sharpen their public health pencils.

The agreement will extend commitments well beyond those established under the multilateral World Trade Organization (WTO), reaching further “behind the borders” to limit governments’ policy and regulatory options. This makes it a political and not just an economic treaty, yet negotiations are secret and there is no requirement for Canadian parliamentary approval of the final agreement. Legislators from seven of the 12 countries in TPP negotiations, including Canada’s NDP trade critic and Green Party leader, recently endorsed an open letter demanding release of the treaty before it is signed, and allowing ample time for public and political scrutiny.

Several of the TPP chapters already have been leaked. Two key chapters of public health concern regard investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS), and intellectual property rights (IPRs)......." see more/\

Our government is allowing multinational corporations to dictate our laws. For Example, look at the fine print when you buy something from iTunes. The agreement states that items purchased are to be used under a license to use, however this license is not passed on as part of your estate. Imagine if your family owned a substantial collection of music, but could not pass it on for you to enjoy. This is the type of draconian licensing agreements that they want to make into law. By joining TPP, they are trying to change the law in a manner is not democratic and does not follow due process in Canada or the USA. No wonder they want to keep this a secret.

i'm quite surprised that changing prostitution laws gets everybody up in arms, and organized in a way where we're making plans and writing local MP's..... Why isn't anyone as concerned that Harper is making a secret agreement with other countries, and not allowing citizens or elected officials a chance to see or vote on such an agreement? Why doesn't anyone care that we included China in World Trade Organization in 2001.... and they were supposed to be a fair trading partner, opening up their markets fairly... like we have... and that hasn't happened at all....

Is anyone willing to write their local MP's to get these issues fixed?
