Ok so a friend / neighbor I was talking to yesterday had an issue since last year. This lady flew to Korea last year. Her initial flight was booked with Japan Airlines with a layover in Chicago. She showed up at the airport to board the flight but was refused because apparently she has no US Visa (not also a Canadian Citizen). She cancelled the flight immediately and was informed she will get the full credit for the ticket (sounds fair right). Here's where it got worst for her. Apparently the credit is for the same airline ONLY...and can only be used within 18 months from the cancellation....(she had 18 months to travel again) LoL... I didn't even know it was refundable....but she told me they gave her credit because the mistake was made by an expedia agent assuring her a lay over in the US does not require a US VISA even for non Canadian Citizen...but it turns out it was required....she was asking me yesterday where she can file a complain...HOnestly I don't know... but maybe some of the guys here more travel savvy could answer...

Been there almost done it but different reason for me. It is well know fact that today you must have a Visa or CDN / US passport to enter US. After 9/11 for what ever reason even connecting flights.

SO she can try the Gov't , but they are a joke and will give you script that will make either cry or laugh, and blame on you.

She can try this route but good luck finding HQ office

Instructions from a private lobbyist group ( a lot of them)

My recommendation call and get the US Visa now first, ( ask for 2-3 years if possible, at least 1 year ) then rebook the flight ASAP, fly in September/October.
Dealing with Airline is a joke they are only bullys.
