Donald Trump is firing respected military leaders who refuse to follow illegal orders. This is dangerous because it weakens the military's independence and puts loyalty to him above the law.
By doing this, Trump could push the country closer to a civil war. There’s also a real risk that he might create conflicts with other countries just to distract people from what's in the Epstein files, especially if they contain damaging information about him. These actions could hurt both the U.S. and the rest of the world.

It is worrisome that Trump is firing general officers. However, a few things to keep in mind: To become a general/admiral, you need to perform at a very high level throughout a long career. Nobody becomes a general just because they are loyal to Trump (or any president), because they need to be promoted through the ranks. Once they are a colonel, this is where presidents can step in. The president nominates an officer (usually recommended by the Secretary of Defence), but the Senate needs to approve the promotion.

Another thing to keep in mind, military men take their oaths very seriously. They all swore to uphold the constitution when they joined. They are also well educated (nearly all hold advanced degrees), so they can take a broad view of what is happening. They also understand that "just following orders" is not going to save them if they were, say, ordered to have their men fire on civilians or what not.

I'm not saying that Trump could stack the officer ranks with his people. But, the majority of the military would likely push against this, even if they support Trump. At least, I hope that is what they will do.
