In the laboratory.
Does anyone else wonder why TSN would employ Rod Black? Yesterday was the first time I'd heard him this season and I found his incessant nattering on about this stat and that awfully annoying. He can't carry on any interesting conversation with his colleague Pat Tabler and he can't just shut up either.

Oh, for the days of Dan Shulman in the booth!

Still waiting to hear the Sportsnet crew. Not convinced Jamie Campbell can do it. I'm getting tired of hearing about his childhood growing up a Jays fan and how awesome his baseball card collection is.

Shulman is the next Vin Scully! He also does college basketball on ESPN which is also top notch.

Rod Black should stick to figure skating ....

I wish Jerry Howorth did colour broadcasting.

I use to love how he would say, "Ward works" or "Stieb works" or "He scorrrres" or "swing and a miss he struck him ouuuuut".

OK, take it easy with the examples Philip!

As much as I don't like listening to Rod Black, after watching the Fox Sports Net broadcasts from Oakland and their incredibly homer announcers, the TSN broadcast last night looked very professional.

GTA
homer announcers
rod black being with tsn he gets a pass
but lets look at sports net and the fan590 issue
rogers owns the team
tv station most of the games are on
and the radio station with the rights for all games
this will give the fans a ballance opion of the team?
have you ever listen to J.P. AND MIKE WILNER
on the radio
man it is a love fest
Too early to form an opion on MR. CAMBELL on the tv cast
but it will be hard for him to be critical of the team his boss owns.
just a fact of life in this day and age.

I like Wilner...he's knowledgeable and he's learned well from Tom and Gerry. Yes, he's cozy with JP but he's not afraid to call a spade a spade and question decissions. Fortunately for him, JP is available, stands in there and has can come up with pretty reasonable responses.

Warren Sawkiw hasn't been bad as a stand in for Gerry and Tom is class.

listening

listening to these guys...the TV guys are dull beyond belief, the radio guys...LEDGENDS oF CANADIAN BASEBALL for sure...but the more i listen to the TV broadcasts....i wish the days of BUCK (martinez) and DAN (shulman) would come back we all know they wont due to the $$$$$ factor....i shoulda stayed in broadcasting when i applied to college....these guys (tv) have no personality, they are dull, and they strike a resemblance to the way Alf DeBlasis from TLN calls soccer games when the Audio feed goes blank...

Rod Black is not one of the boys. He's too much Women's Ice Skating rather than MLB

Buck is actually a fantastic all round broadcaster and analyst. At times, I wish he had never become a bench boss in the first place. It placed much awkwardness on his return as a play by play guy. In an weird way it reminds me of the Mario Tremblay situation with the Habs. Except I don't think Buck was anywhere close to being as stubborn.

And he coached the Rocket to his 5th Cy.

I actually enjoyed Jim Hughson & Buck back in the Jay's haydays.

I remember the first official TV voices of the Jays were Don Chevrier, Tony Kubek & Fergie Olver (as the beaver). Don (who I heard actually covered Baltimore- Is that true?) was a far cry better than Faulds, Campbell & Black. I believe that Kubek went back to covering the Yankees. As for Fergie...whatever happened to him?
