TSN Hot Seat Owner/ Player Reps

Anybody else see the Hot Seat last night on TSN. The owners rep held his own. The players rep on the other hand contradicted himself on many occassions. If I was a player and watched that I would really start thinking hard about this guy continuing to represent me....

He was stymied when asked the difference between replacement players here next year taking NHL jobs and the NHLers taking them over in Europe now....

Also enjoyed the bit about fans not going to see watered down product with replacement players. Hockey starved Canada,wanna make a bet....

There were many more, but I think it is self explanitory if you watched any of it...

The players will crack long before the owners.....

i saw it, two spin doctor's going at it. both spewing the same rhetoric we have been hearing for the past few months now, in different ways. geez boys, how many ways can you spell shitheads and fuckfaces? these two will give you so many spins on the same bullshit, it'll make your head cave in.

i like the owner's rep the best though, bill daly i believe. you could just see the smirk in his face. the owners know, if the player's themselves dont crack, they will literally go to the courts, state the NHLPA is not negotiating in good faith, impliment what they want, and whoever wants to then play, plays, who doesn't, can do what they want. ted saskin, from the player's side, knows this. so do all the players. they really have no foundation to stand on in this fight. can you say...REPLACEMENT players!

another thing, after last nite, the impression i get, is that the NHLPA is all set to lose 100 or so odd jobs when teams contract, are willing to give up the tounger players in order to ensure the older, richer guys, keep getting richer, and that they will sell out alot of the lower tier guys, to ensure they get no cap, and the rich continute to get richer.

so, looking at our leafs, how do you feel this morning, if you are a guy like belak, or one of their young prospects. aki berg? tellquvist? hmmm...get the point. guys like sundin, al-mo, roberts, belfour, etc;...what do they care, they have made and will continue to make their big money. the little guy is being sold down the river! the in-fighting in the player's ranks is getting pretty hot right now, i have it from very good sources. the NHLPA will never tell you this. it is going to get nasty, before it is all said and done.

I truly believe the players are out of touch with today. But that's not just limited to hockey - it's all professional sports.

Now the NHL's mess isn't all the player's fault, in fact to have to rest most of the blame on the owners and Gary Bettman. The fact is there are too many teams chasing too few talented hockey players.

Who wouldn't accept a multi-million dollar contract in US funds which they owner's have been handing out. Now the owner's want to reverse the trend and the player's don't want to end the gravy train.

Simply put other major league sports such as football & basketball have salary caps and both of those sports are far richer than the NHL. The players are simply going to negotiate with that in mind, but like i mentioned before they have lost sight of the reality of the situation
