Don't know about UltraAVX, but here is my opinion. Unless it is a(n action) film you think that you will enjoy, I suggest pay the regular 2D price. From other 3D films I've seen, though I did enjoy them, when I think back to them, I don't remember the 3D scenes, only the overall story. I feel that most films that are made in 3d are not storyboard with that in mind, only as an after thought, so it is not that much more value added. A film like Avatar, Cameron always had the 3D aspect in mind when he was conceptualize it.

Isn't Ultra AVX the theatre where the seat moves and shifts and vibrates, and so on? That plus 3d glasses sounds like it would ruin a movie. 3d does nothing for me. I thought it was neat as a kid, but now I don't like it. The tinted glasses are kind of annoying too. I'll be impressed when 3d is possible without having to wear glasses than darken and dull the colours.

I have to agree. Saw the movie in 3D (the theatre didn't have any 2D shows available) and found it a little dark in the night scenes, which is ridiculous, since I read that Marvel/Disney provided a guide to film operators for camera light settings.

Aside from that, great movie and plan to see it in 2D.

i wouldn't expect miracles from the movie. i was less than impressed. in my opinion it was the worst of the 3 iron man movies and probably the worst of the "avengers" series. even the clip at the end of the credits wasn't worth waiting for.

No it is not. The seats do not move. Some theatres have this but is is a few seats within the theatre only. I believe it was called MFX and it hasn't really caught on.

AVX is a hybrid of IMAX. The screen is just as big with digital projection, the sound is fantastic (better than IMAX as the DTS is more prevalent, IMO) and it is ably adapted into the larger theatres in a Cineplex. As opposed to an IMAX theatre which requires dedicated construction.

What I really like about AVX is that you purchase assigned seats. Row H, Seats 12 & 13 kind of thing. You can get them up to a week before the show and then have the comfort of walking in literally as the lights go down with no scrambling to find good seats and asking (or being asked) people to shift and move. Plan ahead.

All in all, AVX is taking it a level up and working quite well at succeeding.

try wearing glasses underneath the 3D glasses. Pain in the ass and if I had the choice most times I would choose 2D ... but I did enjoy the Hobbit in 3D.
Agreed! Also, and I think this is also due to wearing them over glasses but for me I get a weird feeling in my head, not pain but very uncomfortable when I wear them. If the movie is good enough I can manage to get used to it but it's super annoying for the first 30 minutes of the movie or so.

Its worth the price just to pre-select your seats. No more hour+ long lines.
That being said, use it for the summer blockbusters (iron man, superman, Fast 6 etc) The ones you know lines will be crazy for.

the clip at the end of the credits was for die hard fans of the marvel movies. its a hint hint at whats coming up in the next marvel movie avengers 2.

ps. there were actually two clues as to the whats coming up in avengers 2. if y ou were a comic book geek. (very very much unlike me) you wouldve seen both of them.

some die hard comic book geeks crave these hints like there is no tomorrow. so they can write pages and pages of theories about them on their online blogs, facebook, forums, talk and discuss it with their comic book geek friends for hours and hours and days and days.
