Unsolicited Solicitation

So I'm at my desk today minding my own business when I get a text on my work phone. Some 647 Toronto number (I'm in Kitchener) saying "Hi". I don't recognize the number so I send back a "Who is this" message. Response: "We have 3 new girls ready for you". Holy fuck. I immediately send a reply saying "I have no idea who you are, stop contacting me" (though I admittedly know who it probably is - Asian Kelly's group looking for biz - I used my work phone once to arrange a visit, stupid me). Oh, and to top it off, I just heard that in my office they are collecting cell phone records to investigate somebody so this type of shit is the LAST thing I need! So how often do others get this type of unsolicited solicitation? And what do you do when you get it - are you flattered and respond in kind or tell them to fuck off?

I have one, which is why I said "stupid me" in the original msg. Can't remember why I used my work phone, but I think probably because stupid Rogers won't let you block the name registered on a personal phone when you call someone.

If I don't recognize the number/name I don't respond. If it was important they'd leave a message.

Some years back, ( edit P & W ) collected info on computer usage in their offices. Many people were called in and fired for surfing porn while at work. Many employees suspected that this was an excuse to thin the herd and cut cost.. The more valuable employees were not fired even though they might have surfed porn. The less valuable employees were fired without severance.

For the love of God, if it's a work resource keep it PG, keep it away from time sinks, and don't let it cast your moral character into doubt. If you don't have some level of control over a phone, network connection, or email account, assume it will be monitored and audited. The people that get suck doing this normally dislike it, and will exclude themselves from whatever they have control over, but do assume you're being watched. This also (especially) goes for sites like TERB.

Tell them to fuck off!!!! Nothing to be flattered about, they just want your money. I'd make it quite clear to agencies to never, ever contact me, either by phone or text, to telemarket their services.

My Rogers cellphone only shows my number, not my name.

My hobby phone is from petrocan. Its pay and go. There is no name associated with it.
