Ok, I've got a SansDisk USB key (128 MB) and every once in a while the key will "disconnect" when I try to access files on it. There's a "da-dum" sound from Windows (and the light on the key goes out) and then I have to unplug the key and plug it back in.

I thought the problem might have something to do with a 2.0 USB slot (I dunno which I have) but I installed a CruzerLock program that (I thought) was supposed to rectify the problem. When I try to copy the entire key to my hard drive (for backup purposes), that's when I really notice the problem as the key seems incapable of transferring all the data without losing the connection. I end up having to transfer the data in chunks, which is a real pain in the ass (especially since I don't have a USB slot on the front of my CPU case).

Anyone have this problem or know what causes it?

(I previously had a 64 MB Dell USB key and had no problems with it)

It is likely that the key is not currently compatiable with your windows usb dirvers.. try formating the key using the system you have installed on the newer comptuer.

It sounds like your key is usb 2 and you slot is usb 1. If that is the case buy and install a usb 2 card.
