Ok, I've got a SansDisk USB key (128 MB) and every once in a while the key will "disconnect" when I try to access files on it. There's a "da-dum" sound from Windows (and the light on the key goes out) and then I have to unplug the key and plug it back in.
I thought the problem might have something to do with a 2.0 USB slot (I dunno which I have) but I installed a CruzerLock program that (I thought) was supposed to rectify the problem. When I try to copy the entire key to my hard drive (for backup purposes), that's when I really notice the problem as the key seems incapable of transferring all the data without losing the connection. I end up having to transfer the data in chunks, which is a real pain in the ass (especially since I don't have a USB slot on the front of my CPU case).
Anyone have this problem or know what causes it?
(I previously had a 64 MB Dell USB key and had no problems with it)
