does anyone know how to burn the audio from a VCD to a CD so it can be played on a regular CD player?

Play the vcd in your dvd player, connect audio out from your dvd player to your computer's line in, record and burn it.

Try mp3mymp3.

It's not a pro software but it does what it says: whatever you hear from you sound card, you can record.

It does audio capture from DVD, VCD, and other sound files on your HD, etc. BUT you have to spend a little time adjusting the Master Volume and Recording Volume control to get the best level. The magic word is " low ", and don't let the meter you see hit the red, ever.

Then you can choose to save whatever you just recorded as wav or mp3 files.

You may have to try it out with a few video player. My window media player doesn't allow it to record... no level whatever... ( fucking Micro$oft ) while the Nero player as well as the Lalim VCD player worked out fine.

Best of all. it's free

Good luck.

thanks Berlin,

this method sounds a bit more promising. If mmouse's method works , my apologies for doubting , but when I looked at the back of my dvd player and comp it just don't look like they can connect.

On a mac i just rip the audio with itunes from a VCD or SCVD ... or try ffmeg (OSX Linux or Unix) to convert it to audio.

The above way would work indeed, it just requires physical wire patching and possibly a RCA to mini jack cable, and will probably introduce more noise.

demux the video and audio, separates the video and audio stream. any video editor will do this. rename the audio file as mp3 or mpg, and use Nero or your favourite mp3 converter to convert the audio file to the proper mp3 format and burn the mp3 to a CD format.

all the other posts are too time consuming.

is the vcd already burned to a vcd or is the file in an mpeg 1 format (vcd specs) ?

if the vcd is already burned to a cd you are going to have to extract the mpeg file then demux the video and audio. use isobuster or similar program to extract the mpeg file then demux. the demuxing part is very fast. converting to mp3 format about 4 minutes and the burning of the mp3 would take the longest about 6 minutes.

if I had your vcd it would take me about 10 minutes all together for you to listen to the burned CD.

what vcd is it ? maybe I can find it and extract the audio and I can send the mp3 to you ?
