This might sound like a simple question but wonder if there such a cable you can hook to your computer that would make you TV the moniter? My TV is 1 year old an HD tv. Just thought it would be easier to watch movies that way. I thank all before and please be gentle on me.

Just did that with my laptop and 32" TV.

All it required was a S-Video cable (got a 6' cable from Newegg for <$8 total cost with shipping) with 2 male ends to plug into the laptop and TV, for video and a cable that plugs into the laptop earphone jack with 2 RCA plugs to plug into the TV, for audio.
I can now use the TV as a monitor or play movies from the laptop to the TV with very good video & sound quality.

S vidio plug should also give you the audio from the laptop.

Think of it as a dvd/vcr player running by S video

I thought so to but only the video worked with the S-cable.
To get sound I had to use a cable that connects to the earphone jack on the laptop to the RCA 'audio in' jacks on the TV.

Talked to techies at both Radio Shack & Geek Squad and they both claim a S-Video cable will only carry the video over.
