Video capture problem

Without going into too many details, I've got a surveillance camera which seems to work fine when I connect it to a TV or a VCR. And I've got a video capture card which seems to work fine when I hook up a regular TV signal or a VCR. But if I hook up the camera directly to the capture card, the video won't stabilize (horizontal scroll left).

Any ideas?

Try hocking your camera into your VCR then use the output of the VCR into your capture card. Since your VCR provides a stable image to your capture card it may stabalize your video signal. Of course in your setup you are going analog perhaps going digital would help.

Thanks for the reply. It's a good idea, but unfortunately, my VCR seemingly doesn't reframe the "through" signal. So while I'm recording, the "live" signal through the VCR is unstable. Conveniently, the playback of the same sequence (i.e. when it's regenerated by the VCR) is stable.

Unfortunately, playback doesn't solve my problem.

Along a similar theme, I'm waiting on delivery of a "RF Modulator", which should take the composite video signal and "tune" it to a particular "channel". I'm hoping that it will also reframe the signal as it does so, but if it doesn't work I'll really be up the proverbial creek. And even if it does work, it's more cost and more circuit complexity that I'd prefer to avoid.

Any other ideas I might try?
