Can someone recommend me a video editing software thats easy to use, not too big software and can do just about any file type. I am currently usind DVDVideoSoft Studio, but is only works on some files and not on others even when they are both avi types. I have used WindowsMovieMaker but find it annoying. Peace.

I have Sony Vegas Studio 6, but I admit I haven't cracked it yet because of time and complexity. But it's supposed to be one the easier one's out there.

Welcome other input and opinions.

Stay away from Pinnacle's "Studio" products. The user interface is fairly easy to use. Unfortunately, in the case of each of the 3 different versions I have used (8,9 & 10) the software crashes with reliable frequence at seemingly random points in the editing process. The problems are compounded by horrible support.

Your best bet is Premier Elements - great program, not overly costly and easy timeline to learn. Gives really good results - Download the trial and give it a spin. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/tryout.html
Stay away from Windows movie maker - yes it is simple but gives you a wmv file and that is useless so you need to convert it to burn your movies.
