Although it doesn’t look exactly like all the other prepaid cards, The Cashpassport prepaid Mastercard should work. It’s sold at Canada post outlets and reloaded with cash any time, or online. (there are lots of fees of course, but such is the price of a secret life) You do have to purchase and register the card in person at a Canada post outlet, and provide ID. However because it’s not actually a credit card, there is no credit bureau check and it will not be registered on their systems. There are no statements to accidentally show up in your home mail box, it's all online using your secret pooning email.
It’s intended to be used for travel, using multiple currencies, but I’ve been using it for various discreet purposes here at home for a few years. It works at ATM’s to get cash in other countries, so it should work here.
As a bonus, unlike the other prepaid gift card types you mention above, it’s fully reloadable and hotels will accept it for reservations and payment as long as there are sufficient funds to cover the hold they place. Handy for those of us who need a hotel now and again but don’t want to use our regular credit cards and leave a paper trail.
Hope this helps
