Maybe the recognition that people who are automatically disadvantaged should have some sort of lead in until things even out a bit more?Cinema Face said:What ever happened to hiring the best candidate for the job, instead of hiring based on color of skin?
Nah, people aren't "automatically" disadvantaged just because of race. If there are a few people out there that don't want to work with a certain type of person then it's probably best they find employment with people who accept them. Forcing people to hire people they personally deem undesirable for whatever reason is damaging to everyone.spatial_k said:Maybe the recognition that people who are automatically disadvantaged should have some sort of lead in until things even out a bit more?

Yeah.... that would be a great non-policy.themexi said:Discrimination should be allowed to sort itself out.
This is the most racist piece of garbage I have ever read.themexi said:Nah, people aren't "automatically" disadvantaged just because of race. It is damging to the person coerced by the law to hire someone they will resent. It is damaging to the "beneficiary" of the imposition because they will never truly know if they were a legislted hire & some other workers resentment might relly limit their prospects if not led to more subtle discrimination.
Most importantly, damaging to all the people of that group that actually deserve the positions they earned on true merit because there will be some doubt as to whether they truly deserved it. Doubt by colleagues & maybe some self doubt too.
Discrimination should never have been dealt with by the government. Governments will never be able to erase it. The more draconian they get about political correctness & thought policing the more people will find ways to push back. Discrimination should be allowed to sort itself out. If you believe a company is discriminating & you take personal issue with it, don't give them your business or find another job.
If enough people put pressure on an employer with buying power & human resources issues, they will eventually change or go under. If they still have a thriving business with people willing to work there then realistically..... it's not that big of a problem in the world so get over it.
If the government sees that a certain group of people is having trouble finding employment & fitting into the established society they might want to adopt a new sort of quota system & let fewer of those types of people in.
By type I don't men race or even nationality at all. I mean the poor & uneducated & criminal. There is not a single continent, country, region, race , clan or family that doesn't have both highly employable & desirable citizens & human garbage. All we need to do is demand better performance from our immigration department. Treat it like a job interview.... if there is Any doubt about a persons character or ability to fit in they are denied. If they claim to be a humanitarian charity case we'll send them back with some $ & food.
If we really need more people to boost the population why are we not sending recruiters to countries, finding educated, demonstratively compatible people & making it truly worth their while to come here?
Sure, it might take a fair amount more effort & money & yield fewer numbers at first.......
But in the long run we wont need laws telling people we have to accept this person or that because the people we bring in will be desirable enough on account of their own personal merits that they wont have trouble finding employment.
We won't need as much government manpower to police people's preferences, & choices.... they won't be needed.
We can spend more time on educating our kids about real subjects instead of this touchy-feely liberal tolerance crap.
We will need fewer police & social services & welfare & prisons & courts...etc because we wont have s many ghettos of fatherless disenfranchised uneducated gangstas shooting up the town...............
.....Which is probably why the government wont do it because it resembles something like forward looking plans & actual work that won't translate into votes for the next election....... it also has the most terrifying effect of the people NOT needing the government as much. Seriously I almost think they re doing what they're doing to create problems that only more $ & government can "solve".
Bottom line, is it's not the race or nationality of the people that are the cause of discrimination anymore..... its that the government keeps on attracting too many of the wrong sort of people from these groups & then seem to wonder why no one is jumping at the chance to hire them..... & good decent people are feeling the brunt of that manufactured resentment.
