Wanted: Used iMac

Morgan Ellis

Bitchy McBitcherson
Looking to buy a used iMac to use as sound system. It must be capable of running iTunes and KLite, and doing some web surfing, but that's about it. Not fussy about color or anything along those lines.

I'll be networking it with two PCs and another Mac, so it must be network capable.

If you're within driving distance of Toronto, drop me a line with specs and a quote.

Thanks!

They've got a decent price on an iMac G3, but I'm still hoping to find something closer to the $400 mark.

This is just a play project for me - I'm planning on loading it up with nothing but MP3s and playlists, cabling some kick ass speakers to it, and running it as a sound system. It won't be used for anything other than that and downloading from KLite.

Morgan:

There are a number of dedicated user groups that have trade boards for macs.

Start here:

http://www.lowendmac.com/best/index.shtml

This will give you an idea of current pricing. I have gotten amazing deals and trades from the user group. You can find the group that is most appropriate for you and sign on at www.lowendmac.com

These geeks are the best. They know more about what is possible with your mac than apple does. They helped me soup up my LC575 for my parents with very little problems. And they can solve almost any complication you run in to.

In Toronto, you can also try Red Tag computer for used macs.

You might check out ClickOn, on Easter, east of Broadview. Nick doesn't have the 2d hand inventory of CPUsed, but he does turn stuff over, and he'll keep his eye out for you. Good bet for 2d hand software too.
Probably no news to you that Macs have been network-ready right out of the box since Moses was in diapers.

BUT

i know we've been through this before. Stay the hell away from ClickOn. They guy is a major asshole. Had a bloody street fight with him just to get my computer back -- actually tried to wrench the computer from my hands while I was loading it into my car.

Winston - haven't checked out your user group, but you could be right. I got my mac from a guy in Detroit. The info and solutions, however, are still a-one.

What is wrong with CPUsed? (I haven't bought my stuff there, but they are the biggest - and yes, you are right, they did just merge with Red Tag last year, didn't they?)
