I saw this report on AC360 about the tv reality show Tots & Tiaras about moms, little girls, and beauty pageants. This mom featured in the video won AC's nomination for the ridiculist. One two years girls was shown parading on stage in a bullet bras and corset a la Madonna. FARK!!!

This reminds me of a story involving a ex about 13 years ago.She had moved to Arkansas with some dude she had met off the net but we still stayed in touch.I guess these Kiddy Pageants are huge down in that state and big source of pride.
He husband thought it would be fun to enter her daughter Arianna in one.They did, and she won"most photogenic".Tanya was thrilled and actually started to get into the idea.She took her to a few others and then i guess there was a "national" one in Little Rock.
From what she told me security at these things are lax at best.MAYBE one security guard and he was A).Either too old to serve his purpose or B).Seemed to be there to hit on the mom's.Anywho, she said she tryed to make it a social event and trying meeting as many mom's and dad's as she could.
At some point she left Arriana with someone(stupid by her own admission) and went to the ladies room.When she came back she saw Arriana speaking with a man holding a Camera.Arrianna of course thrilled by the attention of man taking her picture was completely at ease.
Tanya of course, not being submerged in this culture for long , immediately went into "Mama Bear" mode and started asking questions.Have you been to many?...have you lived here long?....and the kicker..is your daughter entered?and if so i'd love to see her.He pointed to a child across the way and Tanya took Arrianna and made a Beeline for the child.
Of course, as you can guess, this child was not this mans and when she looked back he was gone.I remember her saying she never felt sicker in her life.She alerted"security" who immediately started a "sweep".One guard in a arena like building.Of course, no one of substance was found.
There was no video security.Mind you again, this was 13 years ago and this may have changed, no real security of any kind.That was the last one she took her too.She did make a few observations that she thought more about afterwards.
She remembering seeing many more men without children.Assuming they were just dad's.....and probably they were..but probably not all of them.The mom's were very caught up not only with their daughters winning,but in Networking with others there .
she said more then once she had seen daughters brushed to the side and isolated by mothers who didn't feel like dealing with tantrums and wanted to"work the room".

Too far. Child pageants are more correctly described asadults living vicariously through their children/grandchildren. Pedophiles, I don't think so.
I've seen kids cry harder then that getting a haircut is that abuse too? Or what about when their crying and frightened in the dentist chair getting teeth done is that assault?

Getting a haircut doesn't hurt if you don't squirm around and the haircutter is even moderately competant. Yes the dentist is no fun but it is necessary to prevent much bigger problems down the road.

It's the perceived threat of pain that causes distress to some children so I think you can compare them all. Some very young kids are quite terrified getting their haircut. Not because it hurts but because a stranger is putting scissors up to their head and scissors CAN cause pain so that's why they are scared not that it IS causing pain. The haircut is forced upon them despite their protest just like this eyebrow waxing this girl had which likely didn't hurt because it was done properly but she thought it would after an experience from an incompetent person.
I want mine back. All those millions of nerve endings that they cut away would have transmitted so many delightful sensations that I've never felt.
