Split week this week - 3 Saturday games.

Pit @ NYG - Sweet mary! Somebody stop the Manning bleeding. The Giants problem is the QB. It's impossible to think how well Barber played under Warner, but is getting killed with Manning. Big Ben runs the offense efficiently and a big win vs the Jets 17-6.
Take Pit but not for a big spread -under a td.

Wsh @ SF - Wsh stopped Phi from running up the score on them. Wsh D is solid. SF sucks. SF can probably make the playoffs....if they play ARZ every week. I'll take Wsh minus a td.

Car @ Atl - Car is on a roll, huge win vs StL (but StL sucks even more minus Bulger). Atl pounded on Oak 35-10 - no surprise there, Oak is horrible too. This may be a no touch game.

Sunday Dec 19th

1pm.

LOL

I have no doubts that the Steelers can cover the spread on this...a little high though. Pro line has them at 10.5. But with Buress and Staley injured and the Giants D is so bad, Ben might air it out.

Sun Dec 19th 1pm

Hou @ Chi - Chi is favored by 1.5. Hou is in a terrible downhill slide. Both teams had a terrible game last week. Hou lost close vs Ind 23-14...Chi came out flat vs Jak 22-3. RB Davis needs to run hard for Carr to have a chance in this one. I guess this is a pick em.

Buf @ Cin - Buf is favored by 1.5. D tacle Adams is looking like a pro bowler. Vincent is solid in the secondary. Palmer is injured with a knee bang - Kitna is ok. But Cin D end Clemons is out and corner ONeal is injured too. Should be a good bet, all things considered. Take the Bills minus the 2.5.

Sea @ NYJ - Penningtons timing is off possibly due to his shoulder injury - theres also his new contract. His arm strenght is in question and hes taking heat for this - he hasnt thrown a td vs good teams - NE and Pit. Sea can still win the West win StL tripping all over themselves. NYJ by 7.5 - hows Sea in the cold?

Dal @ Phi - Phi had a tough time vs Wsh 17-14 - the D really got to them. Dal lost vs NO....New Orleans! Phi has clinched their spot - they might rest players. Testaverde will start - big win vs Sea, terrible loss vs NO. The spread is huge 12.5 - buyer beware.

Min @ Det - welcome to the annual vikings melt-down. Theyve lost 5 of the last 7 games. They lost vs Sea last week at home. Det lost late to GB in GB. Min is favored by 3.5.....?how?

SD @ Cle - SD has to be careful - theyre on a 7 game win streak. Cle is too messed up with injuries. The spread is huge at 10.5. That being said....CLe got their asses handed to them 37-3 by Buf last week. and SD beat a streaking TB club 31-24. Cle is nowhere near as good as TB. you decide.

Den @ KC - Plummers history vs KC is good .KC has no RB left. KC has no D anywhere. Take Den minus 1.5. KC might play up just to be a spoiler - especially at home.

4pm games

NO @ TB - now or never game for both. TB is hot, despite last weeks loss - theyre playing better. NO is too streaky BUT both teams trail CAR by 1 game - you win, you might have a shot at the playoffs; you lose, you're out. TB is favored by 8.5......question is - which NO tam will show up? NO gives me a headache.

StL @ Arz - Bulger might play - considering Chandler threw 6 picks last week, he'd better play. RB Jackson might be out with a knee injury and FS Williams out. Rams need this game for a shot at the playoffs - Arz flat out stink too.

Jak @ GB - bbbrrrrr....Jak cant win in the cold. Jak has had problems in the red zone all year. If they lose - theyre out. GB needs to win for a wild card spot. Take GB minus 3.5 - the weather may be a huge factor here.

Ten @ Oak - why? McNair is out (bruised sternum). Ten has 17 players injured. Oak Collins sucks 14tds and 15 ints - Oak has no running game. Oak is favored by 1.5....why not.

Sunday night

Blt @ Ind - oh boy, oh boy, oh boy - great game. Blt pass D is suspect on paper they give up 185yds/game with 17 ints - but theyre prone to mental farts - vs CIN they allowed 3 tds in the 4th by Palmer. Manning is going for the record....at home. Blt is also in tough with Pit next week. Ind looked slow in last weeks win vs Hou 23-14. But Balt won big last week at home. Ind by 7.5....might be the steal of the week.

Monday night

NE @ Mia - Ne won the AFC East but home field is still up for grabs. Mia has no chance here - the question is...can they keep it close. Mia kept it close last week vs Den 20-17 loss. NE nipped Cin by a td 35-28. Belichek might hold back here....save some of the good plays for the playoffs.

Thats it for this week - Good Luck to everybody!

I took a bath on the Bears last week but i think i am going to get well this Sunday. I think DA BEARS will smoke the Texans. We are finally gonna get some BEAR weather 14 degrees at game time and is supposed to drop put the 30 mph wind gusts in and we have a great day for a game. GO BEARS

Mr PolarBear

Rethink the Bears bet - rumor has it, Urlacher is out. I'm going to have to rethink this - I took the Bears before I found out Urlacher might not play.

I've had problems with the Bears, Falcons, and Chiefs this year. You never know what team is going to show up and play. Therefore I am probably going to stay away from their games.

I am leaning toward:

Pitt -10.5 vs. NYG
Buff -1.5 vs. CIN
NYJ -5.5 vs. Sea
DET +2.5 vs. Minn
GB -3.5 vs. Jax

Dallas +12.5 vs. PHI also intrigues me. The Eagles would be justified in mailing it in for the rest of the regular season, and Dallas can still make the playoffs. Isn't there an old football cliche about going with the team that "needs it more"?

I'll say. The freaking Giants finally pick a week to show something. Pittsburgh was fortunate to get away with a win.

Screw it - it's time to throw caution to the wind.

I think I'll take Dallas to break the spread. SD to cover their spread. Buffalo, Chicago and Denver to win outright (hoping for a little help from mother nature). I'll take StL (even with Martz still there and "6 pick" Chandler as QB), GB and Ind to cover.

If I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna lose big.

While I admit even for my liking the Steelers win was a little too close for comfort, it's the close games a team wins (or lose) that seperate the contenders from the pretenders. As that saying goes: "Just win baby".

Um... well, yeah, winning is a good thing and all, but I get the sense you are not a bettor because you don't seem to understand why some of us are frustrated over Pittsburgh's win yesterday.

Holy Moses -

I'm getting hosed today....Chicago killed me, GB is killing me. I'm still hoping for an Indy cover to break even this week.

You are frustrated because you have a gambling addiction. :p

I wouldn't bet on the Saints to save my life.

Indy came through and salvaged my weekend. Thank God. I think I'll lay off the Monday night game.lol

I possibly do, but that is not why I am frustrated. I am frustrated because on top of losing my bet, I then have to listen to you spout off cliches like it's okay because wins are what counts. Your loyalty to the Steelers is admirable, but for some of us they are only as good as our last bet. These threads are about point spread wagers, not just rooting for one team. Just asking for a little understanding that's all.

Not bad for me this weekend, healer. The Jets, Colts, Bills, and Lions all came through. which sort of made up for the Steelers and Packers. Can you believe the Lions missed a possible game tying extra point? If the game goes into OT, and Minnesota scores, I lose. That was the best possible outcome for me.
