What the radio idiots think or do should have no relevance. I am in the minority but I think JFJ will do fine. He made good moves in the summer. I laugh at those who criticze him signing McCabe, if they lost him the media & bandwagon jumpers would be all over him.

Give him a chance

I think all this JFJ firing is a little pre-mature at this point. I mean c'mon they've only played 1 game thus far. There is nothing much that can be done by Leafs ownership group i.e. Larry Tanenbaum and Richard Peddie at this point. They gave JFJ full power when last season ended by giving him the authority to fire Pat Quinn and assemble a team and a coaching staff. Give the guy a chance and see whether the team and coaching staff he put together can get the Leafs back to the playoffs. If he fails then it is a different story.

Signing Peca, good move, Kubina , a good move, Gill...ok, not bad, Raycroft will be fine in net. The team is younger & faster, they have a new coach - while I was a big Pat Quinn fan , it was time.
Moved out Lindros - ok I'd like him back, Allison, good move, Berg, Richardson, Khavanov, Domi, Belfour, all good moves.
Goaltending will be much better than last year, defence is better have a solid top 4. I agree the offence can be better, we are relying on the kids.
Sounds like a good summer to me.
Are we a top team? Of course not, but after the many years of going with veterans and almost, but never quite making it, they had to start again. To do that you have to take a couple of steps back. To get a superstar you have to finish near the bottom of the league for a couple of years to get the high pick. That would not go over well, I can only imagine the uproar if that happened.

Guyroch, you say Raycroft was one of the worst goalies in the league last year.Would you rather have Cam Ward?
Raycroft & Ward has almost identical save % and Goals Against Averages last year, in the regular season. Since Raycroft played for a lousy team, he didn't get the wins or a chance to get into the playoffs.
Ward GAA 3.68 Save % .882
Raycroft GAA 3.71 Save % .879

No real difference.
My point is Raycroft had a mediocre year, and the Bruins were a disaster, Joe Thornton wasn't doing much for Boston either, which is why we got him at that price. Raycroft is young and has proven himself in the past. Even with the raise for a starting goalie he is cheap. This move will pay off big for the Leafs. Can Raycroft do what Ward did in the playoffs? Maybe, maybe not, but it has happened before.

Hello everyone...Are we not forgetting that Raycroft was the rookie of the year two years ago? People don't win rookie of the year if they are not bright and future stars....So explain to me just how someone can come to the conclusion that he won't at least have a productive career and a decent possibility of being a future star( DO NOT FORGET HOW YOUNG HE IS!!) I mean the guy could be our tender for like 10 years...

i don't criticize the signing of McCabe, he woulda signed somewhere- it's the amount that i am in disagreement with... plus, could you imagine if you based all of your key decisions on the approval of the media and bandwagon jumpers... that would be one shitty team. obviously your more concerned with their say in the matter.

he's paid almost the combination of a Mike Commodore 1.2M, plus Jay McKee 4M, plus, Jordan Leopold 1.25M and John-Michael Liles 1.25M... the top 4 of a better balanced, faster D-squad that could still afford Kaberle and have Kabina as the 6th D! just a quick example... there are many other examples... alot better one's too. this one would be about one of the top 5 d-squads in the league.

that squad would result in more points, less PM's, a better PK and better PP. ie, more wins.

all mentioned have been available for a trade or FA signing within the last 2 years!

You would not have been able to get Leopold or Liles, the price was too high (Alex Tanguay for Leopold) Jay McKee I believe is getting somewhere around $4million. McCabe this year is around 5.5 million....Commodore is a spare part, a #5 or 6 defenceman, solid but nothing more.

all the numbers are there. i wan't saying the leafs could trade for these guys... of course not due to 3 years of bad management. no good draft picks left, no top desired talent without destroying the core.. ie, sundin.

I was demonstrating only what McCabe is apparently worth to JFJr... that's all.

Commodore was a top 4 D in Carolina last season... and he doesn't get injured and delivers bone crushing body checks consistently.

Between Oakville and Oshawa
Raycroft was paid $550,000 last year and had a shitty year. Can somebody explain why Ferguson gave him a $2 million increase in pay?

And why the fuck is Antropov still on the team? Its just retarded.

Commodore was not a top 4 dman with Carolina. he averaged 15 minutes a game.In his career he's never averaged more than that. He's a solid guy, but nothing more than a 5 or 6.

one thing's for sure... MLSE is turning JFJr into a fine GM- he's making alot of newbie mistakes and the next organization that gets him, he's gonna do whonders for them.

look at Ray Shero in Pittsburgh. he made many mistakes in Nashville. now he's smarter and making a better team because of it.

Can you please tell me a smart move he has made ....
no. i can't... lol. but, he hasn't made many of the same mistakes twice. you might be able to infer that he is learning from his mistakes. that's all.

Shero made alot of mistakes in Nashville... lucky for him, he was excellent at drafting talent.

JFJr can't see talent and that might be his biggest weakness.

hahahaha you can't be serious, better team in pittsburgh, whne players like crosby, malkin, staal, fleury fall in your lap obvisiously your team gonna start to look better and play better, it nothing that Shero has done!!!

JFJ has about same chance of doing wonders for the next team he goes as Rob Babcock does!!!

I agree Ferguson has made plenty of mistakes, like re-signing Belour and Domi, and then wasting cap space by buying them out. Most of the guys he brought in last year were a bust - Khavanov, Allison, Lindros got hurt again !

Quite simply the Leafs are run to make money and if they miss the playoffs again and they might then he is gone for sure
