White Sox in pregame disarray

Player intros went rather poorly for the WS. When the Astros intoduced all their starters they all high fived the rest of the players/coaches, etc. along the first base line. No problem. The WS on the other hand snubbed all the subs until Carl Everett finally included them with high fives along with next 2 starters, and then strangely the last 2 starters again snubbed the subs. Oh well, pregame jitters I guess. Stros in 4, based on what I've seen so far, and this fundamental breakdown in protocol. ;)

Well I knew the White Sox would win game one but I guess that I'm saying it after the facts. Here are my predictions for the next 3 games. White Sox will win game 2. Astros will win game 3. Finally, White Sox will win game 4 to take a 3-1 serie lead,

White Sox catch a HUGE break...that ball did not hit Dye, I knew it right away based on his reaction. Then what do you know, next pitch grand slam...ChiSox seem to be getting the calls this offseason...

Nice clutch hit by Konerko though, even though he should've been batting in the next inning.
How do you figure? The pitch count was 3-2. What you are saying is that Dye would have been out for sure had the HBP been ruled a foul ball.

Good game. Konerko's Grand Slam will be remembered. I like how the Astros tied it in the 9th. Kept up the suspense, but the WS were inevitably going to win.

Sure glad I didn't bet the farm on this one. That Ozzie Guillen is a pretty sneaky guy. He pulled the oldest trick in the book - "Blow the player introduction protocol trick". Yup, its designed to lull opponents, fans etc. into believing that if we can't even get the protocol right, how can we possibly perform in the big game. I think its a deceitful act, and MLB should investigate. Not knowing what other tricks the pale hose may have up their sleeves, I've now got to go with Sox in 4. :D

I'm a Chicago resident, and am glad for the Sox and for the city that they won, if no other reason as it really puts the futility of the Cubs into perspective. I really can't stand the Cubs, or more accurately, Cubs' fans. Their eternal optimism just borders on stupidity, and I have always thought that if they just stopped going and watching, the Trib might actually try to improve the team.

Hammer, to your point, the Cubs haven't had a decent lead off hitter since Bob Dernier in 1984. Patterson just isn't a lead off guy. And that bullpen, geez, talk about a revolving door of closers. Since 1993, the Cubs have tried Randy Myers (pretty good for a few seasons), Turk Wendell (who?), Terry Adams (again, who?), Rod Beck (one big year), Rick Aguilera (past his prime), Tom Gordon (decent), Antonio Alfonseca (who?), Joe Borowski (one promising year), LaTroy "Gopher Ball" Hawkins (one decent year, horrific the next), and now Ryan Dempster (jury is still out).

The Chisox, imo, proved that it ain't all that complicated. Starting pitching, bullpen depth, solid defense, getting runners on base, moving them along, good power. You look at their roster and their lineup and you may not be impressed, but they won a lot of games with this formula.

I like the two year trend of old long time suffering teams finally winning. How about Cleveland in 2006?

ChiSox deserved it, they were better in every area.

Are you sure you arent choosing the Cubs based on 2 "curses" being broken in the past 2 seasons? ;)

Sounds an awful lot like Leaf fans.

Congrats to the White Seox.Probably the greatest baseball team of all time.

With all due respect to your sports knowledge, how the hell do you come up with that one?

136 regular season victories
11-1 in the playoffs
Best pitching rotation in the history of baseball
Cock teased Cleveland and the rest of the world for the last month of the season, just so people would have a romantic story line to talk about.

If this team stays in tact, I could see them winning 150 games next season.

if this is a joke, I certainly missed it...I have no idea where you pulled 136 from, they finished 99-63.

greatest rotation ever? well, not exactly...I dont know the stats, but maybe their starters had the best run in the playoffs ever?

weird post

Sorry about that. For some reason I thought they were 136-26.

You could say that again. If they keep this rotation in tact, I can see them allowing less than 2 runs a game.

Speaking of the best starting four pitchers in modern MLB history, on agiven team, who do you think they might be.
A couple of suggestions.

1971 Orioles
Jim Palmer, Mike Cuellar, Dave Mcnally, Pat Dobson ( all 20 game winners)

Indians late 40's early 50's
Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn, Mike Garcia

Who else?

less than 2 runs/game? Thats absurd

Contreras coming into this season was shit, thats why the Yankees dumped him.

Garland, it was his breakout year, but I dont know if he's for real.

Garcia has been pretty steady over the years, as has Buerhle....I dont think they will dominate, but as of right now they'd be favoured, but a lot can and will happen in the off-season...

side note, Jays may be interested in Adam Dunn...
