Hi,

I'd like to purchase units of this fund:

CI Short-Term Corporate Class (US$)

I picked it by using the filter at globefund.com.

Aside from CI Investments, who can provide me with units of this fund? I checked with Altamira, and they said they only provide Altamira funds. Also, I checked pcfinancial.ca, and they only provide CIBC funds.

1) Who (else) can sell me units of this fund?

2) Would it be cheaper to buy directly from CI Investments?

3) Assuming that I buy $10,000 worth of units in a non-registered account and sell the units years later and make a profit of 10%, how do I get taxed?

thanks in advance.

You can call CI directly at 1-800-268-9374, 8am-8pm EST.

From what I understand, you can only purchase CI mutual funds through a financial Advisor; they do not sell directly to the public.

Hope this helps!!

you pay tax on only 50% of the captial gains...ie 1000 cap gain..keep 500 tax free and pay tax on remaining 500....

Some discount brokerages might offer it as well. I just checked my BMO Investorline account and CI comes up.

This is exactly the case.

Mutual funds from 3rd party providers (CI, AGF, Fidelity etc.) can only be purchased through financial advisors. This would include all brokers, discount brokerages, and independant financial planners.

If you require a more detailed answer, please PM me. My position in the 'really real world' provides me with some insight on how all this works.

..at your marginal tax rate. Yep as GlavaMan said Clarica Financial Advisors with their mutual funds license can set up a non-registered account for you. Just look up your closest Clarica financial centre and ask for an advisor.

Cheers
