OK, I am really partial to Nash - we went to the same school out in Victoria BUT there are other players of note in the NBA this year. So. . . who deserves it?

I hate to say it but I have to go with Shaq - no player changed the complexion of a team overnight like O'Neil did. Plus we might have to go with the Champion choice. Whoever wins it all - might have a better than average shot at MVP as well.

I think you would have to go with one of the two Phoenix players. First overall in the Western conference is no easy feat. Stoudemire was lighting up the scoreboard every night. And Nash has been incredible.

Don't forget that Miami was in the play offs last year and Phoenix wasn't even close. Nash has made that team gel and he has turned them into a definite contender.

My vote goes to Shaq - although I'd love to see Nash take it. Keep in mind that the award is based on play during the regular season - so I don't think winning in the playoffs will have any bearing on who gets the award.

The Mavs are really in need of a point guard right now, in the playoffs. They don't seem to have a proper playmaker among the group, forcing Dirk and Finley to try and create for themselves. I know the regular season is what the MVP is for, but this further re-enforces(sp?) how important Nash was to this team.

To omit Carter from your poll when you know he is going to get more votes than half the people in your poll is not the right approach bud.

Carter sucks

Hey to-guy69, I detest Vince Carter for what he did to the Raptors! Screw him and everyone who likes him! And his mommy too!

 U are killing me, man! Yao Ming for what? I know he's the tallest player in the NBA today but that's about it!

Just for everyone to know - for this poll I took the top 7 players listed as MVP candidates from the ESPN website. FYI, Wallace was #8, Ming was #9, and Wade was #10. I just checked and Carter was NOWHERE on the list. Thank God!

Anyone changed their mind on the MVP

Curious to bump this one up to see if anyone has changed their mind regarding Nash or Shaq as MVP??

As I said earlier, I thought Shaq would win - but hoped Nash would - But playoff play is completely irrelevant.

It may be irrelevant in the voting for MVP, but not for discussion purposes...
i.e. There were/are many comments such as:

"Dallas got better without Nash"...i did not understand how that could be true, but it was debateable.... now there should be no debate over that fact

"Nash only averaged 15+points/game...that's really low..."
"Stoudemire was the real reason for Phoenix rise".. I think that the Dallas series showed that Stoudemire is a big factor, but it's Steve Nash that creates opportunities for Stoudemire and the other Suns...

"Shaq carried a bad Miami team to the playoffs" They pretty much won a playoff series without Shaq...
"Dwade is average without Shaq".... crock of shit...
