I think the Leafs can only afford to spend b/w 1.5 to 2 mil this year before they hit the cap, so they are handcuffed. So if he really wants to play in Toronto, he has to come to terms on a one year deal. You can blame the Leafs for that. God knows why they would resign Antopov. He is all talk and no action, and a prezzle to boot. They could of freed up another 1M to sign Carter. At least that would make a little more sense. I hope he signs but I dont think he will.

a dimentia you will never reach
The Leafs could have had him last year and probably for a lot less money. Prior to last season,Carter only played in a total of 88 regular season games over the previous 4 years with NYR,L.A.,and Washington. Last year in Vancouver he missed only 1 game and led the team in goals scored with 33 and had 15 pp goals to lead the team. Over his career, when this guys healthy,he can contibute.

Cap room isn't the issue, Carter isn't worth the cash he wants. If he was don;t you think some team out there would have signed him?

Carter would be great if he signed in Toronto. Since he hasn't signed Leafs fans view him as trash.

Hey don't blame Carter ... It's his agent that his leading him in the wrong
direction.. He read the market wrong. Okay in the new NHL which would you
rather have Carter or Antrophov ( sorry for spelling ) ... Sundin is yelling from
Sweden ... You got me no help !!
Sundin is probably pissed. They ither need to get Carter or trade for a good Winger.

The teams that signed them obviously thought they're worth the money. No one so far thinks Carter is worth it. That's the difference.

usually the exact opposite is true.

and a core problem for the leafs is that SUNDIN makes TOO MUCH... they can't afford a descent winger for him. the guy makes bills in 'ThorntonLand'...

He'll get signed somewhere after the arbitration stuff goes thru. Teams are worried about what they will have after. Also there are some restricted FAs that are still around ... Gionta for example that have to be signed by their respective teams.

Carter has been totally inconsistent during his career. $3M is too much.

He should sign with Vancouver for $2-$2.5M.

Could be wrong but I think he's from Scarborough.....
Yes, but resides in LA in the off season.

A great fit for a winger to play w/ Sundin would be Zetteberg, but the Wings would probably ask for Kaberle, Steen and maybe a 1st or 2nd rounder. Personally I'd like to see them to go after Petr Sykora, whose got speed and a great set of hands, or trade for Colorado's Marek Svatos who had 32 goals in 60 games last season and is still very green (only his second season in NHL)
