In my mind, the fact that it is the world's oldest profession means it's always been a profession that must provide an income decent enough to get by without a man providing for her. Reviews, tempting and otherwise, in forums such as TERB. These tend to weed out the low quality providers, thus reducing the disappointment factor, and also tempts clients to try those providers who have good reviews.
