Wii classic controller

Kids got a Wii for Christmas and they want the NHL2K10. Will the classic controller be easier to master than the Motion plus/nunchuk combination?

I don't think it makes much of a difference since you can remove the motion plus sensor. I do know that some of the games like Wii Sports Resort requires the motion plus sensor. You can't play that game without it.
