With all the weapons of mass knowledge out there, will Canada ever have to endure something like Katrina ?

1. In Halifax ?

2. In Vancouver ?

3. Oh no, I know now. TERBites are even worse to Canada than Katrina.

If Canadians can endure TERBites, then Canadians can endure anything!!!!

Katrina would be a relative snap to endure (as far as hurricanes go). But I don't think that any of our cities are built below sea level, so....No.

The waters on either of Canada's coasts are not warm enough to generate hurricanes. I think our worst major disaster scenario is a massive earthquake hitting Vancouver. I suppose a major earthquake in the Atlantic could trigger a tsunami hitting Halifax and St. John's. On the Pacific Coast, Vancouver Island should protect Vancouver from a tsunami.

The only real threat we have that Mother Nature can dish out up here is some super blizzard/snow storm that dumps several meters of snow a day for a week. This would shut down the city and trap people in their homes.

I think what JHG is trying to say is that hurricanes by the time they reach the great white north have died in intensity due the cooler waters. By the time they reach the north are carried eastward quickly by the jetstream. Not saying they don't happen but their effects are minimized.

Kommander it's blatantly obvious that you are anti-American.
Perhaps you should keep your inflammatory comments to yourself.
I'm a proud Canadian and yes there are times when I shake my head at Americans, but this situation is not one of them.
