Wind mobile any good?

Good where there is coverage. Coverage isn't just GTA (Hamilton to Newmarket to Oshawa). Ottawa, K-W, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Whistler are all local, regardless of where your home is.

If you're in the city, they're pretty good for what you get, if you're outside a lot, not the greatest. Even some of their "home zones" in the city aren't so great and it bumps you into their "away zone".
Buyer beware.

in other words...big risk. if it "bumps" you into a non-home zone, major cost. you mean you can't afford rogers or bell? or philosophically you don't like them?

When they first came they had shit load of problems with their handsets, area of service(network) and worst yet, their customer service was total bs. I tried it for 2 months and then ported my number back.

I was thinking of moving to Wind too. Since GTA is good enough coverge for me and with unlimited talk, text, and data (can tether for your laptop) the $29/mth plan for first year is great. It jumps to $45 mth after year one from what I undderstand. So 3 years average of will be $40 per month can't be beat by the big 3 for all things unlimited.

Just be careful, their "home" zones are very sketchy at times and then you're roaming $$$$

I happen to know the CEO. They are working hard to improve the issue of spotty coverage. Now that the legal status is, for the most part, behind them, they are pressing on tower by tower.

Shitty coverage and WORST customer service you will ever deal with. Their call center staff are incompetent. WIND is good only for students who never leave the confines of whichever major city they live in, don't make calls outside of that major city, get a discounted student rate, and aren't savvy enough to know when they arebeing either lied to or just jerked around by poorly trained customer service staff. Its too bad, as I'd love there to be a low-cost competitor to the big 3, but WIND blows.

Weren't they pressing for better tower coverage before and during their legal status?
Regardless, coverage is pretty bad. It's the main reason they have pretty hot deals, because they know they'll get paid big bucks back in roaming charges - slick business model.

I have a work phone so I don't need too much on my personal phone. I like having something for internet access when I am out for the day in the city, so I chose Mobilicity when they were offering a $200 credit for porting from my previous carrier. I am on the $25 plan which is unlimited local calling, text and data. With their $40 plan, you can get unlimited N.A. calling and global text messaging.

I am rarely out of the city and have had no problems with the reception, and apart from one customer service rep a year ago, everyone I spoke to has been outstanding.
