Windows 7

So, there is a beta release for select Microsoft resellers, and I'm sure it will be out on the the torrent networks in a few hours. Windows 7 is code name is Vienna. For who does not know about windows 7 it is slated to replace Vista. I'm so tempted to install this beta but I don't want to go through the heahache of it.

For all you High level tech guys out there. What are you're thoughts on this one ?

We all want to be early adopters, and have the latest and greatest bleeding edge technology at our disposal.

Buuuuttt...having gone down this route with Windows in the past, I'm decided not to install any new Windows OS until they release a SP1 for it to get the major bug fixes out.

The cost vs. benefit plays out like this:

potentially having to erase your HDD and start over reinstalling everything when (when, not if) Windows 7 screws it all up for you vs. being able to tell people you're running the next generation of Windows software.

Unless you work in IT, it isn't worth it just for the bragging rights. Even then, it wouldn't be bragging rights. You would just be keeping up with everyone else :)

that's where you're doing it wrong. i've got 3 HDD. one with Vista, one for all my data. the third one i've got partitioned and i use it specifically for installing the newest OS. i've got linux, OSx86 and win XP on this 3rd drive.
I'm doing the same thing.
I never bought an OS per se, no need to, I'll just take what comes on the PC.
I use linux, Vista & XP and lately spend over 90% of my time on linux.
At this point both MS & Apple don't impress me anymore.
