The Beatles catalogue of music is prolific, essential and untouchable. A continuing influence on musicians everywhere.

Why is it though that it is only a certain amount of songs that are thought of in general culture? Last night while having dinner with some friends, only myself and one other friend knew this Beatle song:

This is my favorite Beatle mini-opus and what I consider to be their finest moment. Don't get me wrong, "A Day in the Life" is a sublime piece of work and deserves every accolade gotten. "And I Love Her" is a Masterpiece of romantic simplicity. How does a young kid in his 20's write the lyrics to "In My Life"?

Along with 'Rocky Racoon', 'Blue Jay Way' and 'She's Leaving Home', why aren't these beautiful songs remembered in the same fashion?

Thanks!

Thank you for posting this Don, it is much appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed the clip. Having spent most of my childhood growing up in Liverpool during the Fab Four reign I have a keen interest in all their music. Sir Paul has aged gracefully despite his relationship challenges. BTW is there a link for this clip? I'd like to send it to a few of my friends here and in the UK.
Cheers,
Richard

I saw Peter Gabriel in concert in the summer just past at ACC.

The day of the show, I was in a meeting with a group of early 30's individuals. (Male and female.)

Not one of them had even heard of Peter Gabriel.

(Top 40 crowd I guess.)

I love this piece of music. It features Ringo's only drum solo and Paul, George and John (in that order) in a guitar duel that is still cool after all those years ago.

McCartney sure has a vast catalogue of songs, here is one of my favourites that most people probabaly have never even heard of (albeit a post Beatle song) , brilliant , simply brilliant.
