I do.
Got this car in January 2011. Drove it without winter tires that season.
Got winter tires in the fall of 2012. What a difference.

I do and I won't go a winter without them. The all season tires are useless. Some people don't want to spend the money on them but there really isn't a difference in cost when you factor in that your summer tires will last longer not being used all year around. Now I get at least 4 seasons on my summer tires and 4 season on my winter tires instead of about 2 seasons if I used the same tires all year long. Not to mention that the winter tires are great and much safer to use in the winter.

In the past, when I would shop for a new car I would always negotiate at least winter rims into the deal after I got my best price.
Always ask for winter tires with rims. If they say no then ask for 2 winter tires and 4 rims ( you pay for the 2 other winter tires )
The minimum I always get is the 4 bare rims ( with installation and balance of tires I bring ) I was checking out the new cars recently, you never get discounts on just arrived models. The salesman saw that I was interested and that i as a sophisticated negotiator, so not to waste time he told me that I could get 4 winter tires and rims with the car ( but no discount on the car ) I am sure there is more room to move.

My strategy now is to buy the car with a 6 year warranty ( never pay the asking price for the extended warranty, negotiate the price down ) Even if you do not keep the car for 6 year. You can sell it easier and at a higher price with a warranty. The last car I sold privately I placed ads
and had week end viewings, It sold for near red book ( retail price ) in 2 weekends. 40% higher than black book that will give you at the dealer. Keep the car clean and in excellent condition, keep all bills for maintenance ( there is not much in the first three years ) I even had receipts for every gas bill.

I do not keep them by the KMs. driven. The lease company like the 3 year mark because that is when you get the most for a used car. When people shop for used cars they want reliability, with the extended warrant that you can sell the car with the buyer gets peace of mind. Withe the 4 winter tires on the rim, the buyer gets safety and one thing less to worry about as well as extended tire wear because they have 2 sets. They get all the bills for maintenance to show that the car was kept in good condition. That is how you get full retail price for your car when you sell it.

I have two cars and just sold my Venza, it was 4 years old with 61,000 kms on it.

I use winters as well, and they make a big difference.

Some people claim we don't need "snow tires" in Toronto because we don't get that much snow, and they've never gotten stuck with their all-seasons. That's not the point. We get some very icy roads at times. I don't worry about getting stuck in snow. I worry about not being able to stop or steer on icy roads. That's what will mess you up bad.

Or you could put chains on your car. Here's an informative "How To" video.

(No don't really put chains on. Just watch the damn video. :) )

+1

Winter tires worn down to the wear bars are still a hundred times better than all seasons. I can't wait for the first snow fall. I can see myself now, sitting behind cars struggling to make it up a hill with their all seasons. When will they ever learn!

I put snows on my Sorento this year after going last winter without. Wow. 1000% better. And we have had winter weather down this way for a few weeks now.

Put them on three weeks ago. Always top of the line Michelin X Ice and on a 4WD I get excellent traction and never have been stuck even with numerous trips to the ski hill. Like others have said Winter Tires save lives.
Sorry.....top of the line are Nokian Haakapelitta R2's from Finland. Got mine

Theres a little known winter tire, made by an Israeli company, called the Nagila. Even under the worst snow & ice conditions , this Jewish tire will not only stop on a dime, it will also then pick it up!
