Wireless Mouse?

I currently have a basic Microsoft wireless mouse with two buttons. There is a cable attached to a USB connector that plugs into the back of my computer. The cable is attached to a small mouse-sized receiver that needs to be relatively close to my wireless mouse.

I want to buy a better mouse than has additional buttons and is a little more ergonomically friendly.

I'm trying to avoid a mouse that has one of those small plug-in USB keys as I figure that will need to be plugged in close to my mouse, probably at the front of my computer. But I would like to keep my front two USB ports open for other USB devices. So I don't mind a mouse with a similar setup to what my current one has (a receiver connected by cable to a USB plug).

I have noticed "gaming" mice out there but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for. What is a gaming mouse and how does it differ from your basic mouse?

I have a logitech cordless mouse/keyboard combo. I guess the batteries hold up well enough, but I've been thinking that a rechargeable mouse would be nicer.

Don't settle for 2 buttons. 2 plus a scrollwheel is the only way to go. You'll never look back.

Lately, I often see laser mice, but they're so expensive. I'd like to know what makes them worth the price.

The other new option is bluetooth mice. Sooner or later, I'm going to have a bluetooth headset and printer. My next mouse will probably be bluetooth.

I have a wireless Microsoft mouse. It has 2 buttons, + vertical/horizontal scroll. It also has 2 smaller buttons above where my thumb is. These 2 extra buttons are for zooming in on a particular part of the screen, and for switching between any open windows I have. Haven't experienced any problems with it.

But I agree with sleazure, get one with a scrollwheel. Whenever, I use the mouse at work I get frustrated when I try to scroll down a screen and forget i don't have that function on my mouse at work.

I also like the logitech, I use rechargable batteries....I keep four on hand, the mouse takes 2......so when they run out I always have a set charged.

I have a logitech G5 that I'm very happy with. I prefer not to use wireless because of speed and sensitivity.

I've got a logitech wireless also, and the thing pisses me off regularly. It has a mind of its own. Do you have any complaints also?
