Most embarrassing opening to a World Series I can remember. Is it possible for a team to simply declare Uncle before they walk another batter home? 13-1 and it's only in the 5th.

Getting their asses clocked like that may be a good thing for the Rockies. A loss is a loss and it's only the first game. Losing 2 - 1 has the same impact on the series without the eye opening slap in the face of a route.

We'll see but I think Colorado will bounce back (don't forget the Red Sox were written off after game 4 of the ALCS).

If they are smart...

...the Rockies will just brush this off. Really, they knew they couldn't win games forever, that they had a 9 day lay off, and that they were facing the hottest pitchers in the playoffs on the road.

If they beat an aging and beatable (Cleveland proved it) Curt Schilling in game two then they will have the split they came to Boston to get. On the other hand, if they go back to Denver down 2 nil it is over....

Beatable? Yes
Beaten? Not so much.;)
3-0 this post-season. Sometimes the guy with the best stuff doesn't win.

In a living hell
When the Bo Sox bats are hot, they're REALLY scary.
By the way, what annoys me is how long they drag the games out in the World Series. Game One broadcast started at 8 p.m., the first pitch was 40 minutes later, after all the pre-game intros and ceremonies, way too much BS just get the game going.

How things have changed

As a lifelong RedSox fan, I kept waiting for them to choke in '04. Even after they won game 4, it didn't seem real. Now, I fully expect them to bring the championship home. I don't think this is coming back to Fenway.

....but only because his teammates bailed him out against Cleveland on 13 Oct.

Not that your point isn't much more than valid...Schilling gave them exactly what they needed last night...5 strong innings carrying them to the bullpen.

The Rockies should be done...but as Hurdle pointed out...they been further against the wall before...they've had their season come down to two outs with two strikes, and come back...so I am sure they are not scared....

It also might hurt to BoSox that Tim Wakefield is not available...they could use his experience if this thing goes 6 or 7 games...Dice K in his first World Series isn't the strongest of plays....

With Beckett getting 2 more starts if needed, this one is simply done.
I think last nights win nearly guaranteed Lester will start game 4. A win Saturday and it's carved in stone. I still don't think one of these teams is coming back to Boston.

They should be. They haven't faced a team like the RedSox up 'til now. There's an awful lot of talent on the Rox but really, how much faith can you have in Josh Fogg and Aaron Cook? The gaps are just as big in that outfield when the Sox are hitting.;)
