Xp Sp3?

Looks like MS has released SP3 for XP.

This pre-release software is provided for testing purposes only. Microsoft does not recommend installing this software on primary or mission critical systems. Microsoft recommends that you have a backup of your data prior to installing any pre-release software.

"Release Candidate" means it's still a beta and Microsoft isn't sure if it's ready for prime time yet. lol

I wouldn't even wait for the full release. In fact, I wouldn't install it at all.

A friend of mine had a host of issues regarding SP2 screwing up some of his programs. He ended up reverting to SP1 but spoke to his MS rep (he works as the tech lead for a BB store in Woodbridge) about these issues. It was only after several fixes for SP2 in which he, and I finally downloaded it.

So I won't be that quick to download SP3, but I will wait for a bit to see how acceptance of that service pack goes.

XP was still pretty so-so stability wise after Service Pack 1. Service Pack 2 really re-wrote the operating system and was such a change, it should have been called XP ver B.

Word from the testers is Service Pack 3 makes XP 10% faster!!!! I think it will be well accepted.

I've been running XP SP3 for about 2 weeks, no problems so far... time will tell
