Well done robust phone, but they rested on their laurels.

There are times when I get sick of the touchscreen and holding it up to my face and typing on the damn thing.


There has to be a happy medium without the slide out keyboard (adding weight).

I've actually been playing around with a Nokia E71 lately and have been surfing eBay for the E72. But, am also looking at the latest and greatest BlackBerry

Your level of brain washing would have made Kim Jong Il proud. Siri is not in any way practical if you're on a phone call and need to access stuff. Don't confuse this gimmick (and yes, it's a nice gimmick with a lot of potential) with productive usage.

I was just being a smart ass..... relax. Apple would seem to agree with the potential part of your statement given they have it released as a beta product.

Right now, Apple and Google are cutting on their teeth with this technology. But in 20 years from now (hope it happens sooner), this leap forward is the reason why we'll be able to talk, not type to our PC's.

Like I said, it's got lots of potential. I've used it and I use the google talking software. In the right environment both are useful but neither are good enough for regular usage in real life circumstances. But I agree with you, it's only a matter of time before they both perfect it. And I think it'll be sooner than 20 years.

No thanks, I`ll pass. Not so shit hot - more hype than anything the 4S. Cousin was pissed off quite royally and regretted giving up his 4 for the S. lol

Besides, Android is working on a better version and will be releasing it sometime this year, it`ll definitely be interesting to see how it works once it`s out.

While my phone has speech to text (well before Apple had it), I find I'm Swyping 99% of the time anyways.
I don't like the idea of dictating to my phone everything I do, say or whatever.
If that's the case and everyone were to do it, imagine standing in line at the bank when everyone has their phones out and they're all talking at once?

Again the Siri comment was not serious - while the speech automation/recognition is sure to take off Cobster asked a good question (I know, I'm surprised too)....

QWERTY keyboards either take up screen real-estate or ad bulk with those cheesy pull out designed.... touch screens are not physical keys....

The swyping you're doing on your Android is one answer (and a good one I think), another will be touch screens with some degree of feedback (so it feels like you've hit a key)
