The teachers are getting bent out of shape because social media will be restricted on the wifi. And that will include them.

We did not have cellphones when I went to school in the 80's and we survived.

It`s a start. Young children and teens are pissing away their formative years unable to perform in real life. Witness the huge increase in anxiety, depression and neurotic behavior they have, this does not end well.

I know very little about what students can do and cannot do
in today's schools. So are they allowed to smoke cigarettes
during the break outside the classroom in designated areas?
Vaping can't be more harmful than tobacco.

Did not know kindergarten kids used cell phones these days. lol. Why would they even need it?
No one seemed particularly bent out of shape in that report.
It's Oracle's personal spin job. There has to be a culture war narrative to everything.

AI making policy decisions ?
not going to happen in an ongoing democracy
one can not vote a computer model out of power

will AI influence future policy decisions ?
very likely

Let them use cell phones and when they flunk, that's their problem.
That's about it.

The province and their lawyers won't let schools do anything about phones so it's just another meaningless PR stunt.

And the fact that he held the presser at a school on a Sunday showed quite clearly he didn't want actual kids around.
