my observations and what i read:

a) NBC wanted to keep Conan, whose contract was expiring
b) Conan's change of content sucked, imo (i noticed good stuff he had before. like Joe's Place, Annoying European, the Interrupter, Sausage Fest, all gone)
c) Leno at 10 pm wasn't working (too many people miss ER-type dramas, or people aren't tuning in at the earlier hour)
d) Jimmy Fallon had some promising stuff, but boring, imo

Leno is funny IMO, that's why he had the highest ratings going head to head with Letterman, unfortunately his current time slot ain't working. I think he will kick ass again going up against Letterman.

They were trying to save millions of dollars ( per week ) It is cheap to make reality shows and talk shows compared to CSIs or Law and order drama programs. In the 10 PM slot they would cut their production cost to a 10th. if it had worked out. Personally, I liked the 10 PM slot for Leno.

leno is a douche.. he is not funny .. he steals bits from everyone and then screws them up..he is done.. now the morons are going to put him back... i hope he tanks again.. he should be put out to pasture.. all the late night show are tanking.. letterman is the only one doing well.. the news programs are better of with out them.. my 2 cents...

It was broke. Colon O'Brien was given airtime when he sucked, proved he sucked, and for some odd reason, wasn't removed? Didn't make ANY sense in a business that admonishes talent. O'Brien is not talented and should be quickly removed from television forever. I mean give me a break, not once did I ever laugh at his show, was interested in any of his guest interviews, or any of his monologue jokes. I mean if they can throw Rosie O'Donnell off the air (she sucked huge), they can really kick that stick insect Colon O'Brien right off the air.

Where is Craig Kilborn? The fact he's off the air is also mind-boggling. When great content goes no where, and horrible content goes everywhere, we know there is a problem......oh yeah, there's a super recession, who would have guessed!?

Tv is on the way out, the Internet is whats coming in. Who wants to watch a bunch of ads in between the programs. I stop watching most TV expect for sports a few years back. News I get better on line, same with weather. U Tube has the best of whats on TV

Personally I'm a big Conan fan, but regardless of whether anyone finds him funny or not, the fact is that NBC screwed him over. He was offered a huge contract in 2004 by FOX, which reportedly was 3X his salary with NBC. The only reason he stayed is that they promised him the Tonight Show. Now they're pushing it back to past midnight, which had he known at the time, I doubt he would have stayed with the network.

Actually if you think about it, they basically pulled a B&S on him.

This is such a reminder of the nonsense that NBC pulled way back with Leno and Letterman when Carson stepped down from the Tonight Show. They did everything they could to keep both options open, being afraid to let either talent go to another network….much like now.

I can't wait for a few years from now when all the tell-all books about this come out (like the ‘late Shift” about the Leno/Letterman days). I can only imagine the back room shenanigans going on right now.

Makes you wish Johnny Carson was still around. IMHO Craig Fergusen is the best of a sorry lot. If I could pick a late night host I would choose Ron White. He would never take the job, but I would love to see him interview celebrities with his sarcasm.

Leno is OK but Conehead is pure fluff and will be a pertect fit with FAUX.

I rarely watch these talk shows. Although not exactly a talk show, I also try to avoid Jon Stewart and Colbert as I find both of them very irritating, always making fun of other people.

Jon Stewart and Colbert are very funny and a good 'fair & balanced counter' to the fluff FAUX airs....

Never liked Leno,HATED Letterman,Ferguson is an asshole. Really dont care what NBC does with late night.
