You'd think that after what, 100 years of putting pedals into cars that they'd have that one down to an art.

Stop reinventing the wheel.

Good old American quality strikes again.\
...:)
yes. quality of toyota has gone down consistently year after year after introducing vehicles to be built in North America.

I'm on my fifth toyota now... sold the 07 tundra (problems), sold the 06 corolla (too small), still have the 01 Rav4 (875,000 kms), 08 highlander hybrid... both Rav4 and Highlander were Japanese made models. both are excellent quality. I will hit 1 million kms on the Rav in about 2 years. and my oldest prize is my shop parking lot plow truck.... an '83 Mojave pickup that I haven't had on road in over 20 years! I leave it outside in all weather in a middle of a field and it still will start at any attempt. even after leaving it from late March till January of the following winter!!!

btw- yes, I can make my pedals stick in both the Rav4 and the Highlander.... but, it only happens if you floor the pedal to the mat. I don't drive like that anymore... too expensive in fuel consumption.

I'm on my fourth toyota now... sold the 07 tundra (problems), sold the 06 corolla (too small), still have the 01 Rav4 (875,000 kms), 08 highlander hybrid... both Rav4 and Highlander were Japanese made models. both are excellent quality. I will hit 1 million kms on the Rav in about 2 years.
There may be some truth to this 21pro...

Years ago, I had a 1990 Golf (First and ONLY VW I ever had...). My dad has had about a dozen of them dating back to the Rabbit, then switched to Golf, then to Jetta's... Swore by every one of them.... Although he started to complain about the last couple he bought... So now he drives a Toyota!

That 1990 Golf was a complete lemon... and it was (I'm told) the first year the Golf was made in North America... As a result I will never buy another VW because of it. (I switched back to Honda after that car...)

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
If you haven't had a problem, just keep driving it....this reminds about the huge uproar over H1N1....blame it all on the media.

There was some suggestion on the news tonight that this problem may be a 2-3 year old issue. The suggestion was that this could be a computer issue in the car totally unrelated to the pedal. Perhaps when they "fix" the pedal they tinker with the onboard computer.

I know what condensation is but does anyone know how condensation comes into play with the pedal? (I believe that's what Toyota said was the cause)

I read somewhere it was the type of resin used in the plastic? Is it driving conditions?
