Can anyone provide the names of some good restaurants in Toronto or GTA. (out by the airport is okay). I mean, I have clients that come in a lot, so I always got to find places to go for dinner......sometimes I'm at a loss, and I can't tell u how many times I have hosted at spring rolls in the past year!

medium priced....not super super fancy.

I know it's a vague question, but thought i would make a post anyways.

A variety would be good...not just sushi places!

thx in advance.

if only there was a place to type things in on the internet that could give you answers to questions like this. i should go an dragons den and suggest a business where you can type things in on the internet like a search thing. i bet i would make a fortune.

Around the airport is mostly pre made entree/fast food places with kids working the grill. If you have to eat around the airport I guess the best of the bunch would be the Keg at Dixon/Carlingview. (Assembly line steak)

A little further from the Airport you can find Alice Fazoolis, which is still a chain, but a bit of a step up. ( Mid priced Italian, Steak and seafood)

Downtown there are plenty of steak houses, Barbarians is a legendary place near the Eaton Centre. (Premium priced but not crazy. A true meat lovers paradise, nothing fancy, mixed crowed of suits and jeans,)

Near the ACC at Bay and Wellington is Far Niente, they make a killer lobster pot pie, but it takes them 45 mins to make it. (Premium Priced. Kind of swanky, packed at lunch but never busy at dinner. Mostly suits during the day, but more casual crowd at night)

Kegs and ChopHouse Grills are both all over the city, including the airport. They may be what you are looking for.

Montana's is ok for the "bar" + restraunt venue. Springs Rolls is very safe and offers good variety - I take clients there too - good choices for a mixed group.

Have you checked MileStones? They are on Dixon and in Yorkdale. (subway access is convenient).

Too bad the Outback closed down on Dixon - man they had great steaks and a wicked rack of lamb!

Out by the airport, my favorite is Topiary on Derry Rd at Airport Rd. Check the website
Agree with the others have posted - pretty much the same old OK stuff out there.

There is a pretty good Italian place on Matheson - La Scala. Not your typical assembly line chow. It's pretty good actually.

AND, the best part, it's virtually down the street from the New Locomotion. You can go for some nice pasta, then get some take out.

OH yeah, there's the infamous Arizona's T n A restaurant.

Shit food (and I do mean shit) but the waitresses are hot.

If you're a meat eater like I am I like going to Le Bifteque (SP?). There's a few in TO, one on Dixon Rd. (by the 427) and another on Richmond St. west of Yonge. (OR there used to be, it's been a few years)

I've always been pleased with the Canyon Creek Chophouse. Good food, nice ambiance, reasonable prices.
If you absolutely want to stay away from the chain restaurants, there's a pretty good place called (I think) Zorro's. I've been a few times, always for business dinners and it fits the bill nicely.

Does anybody on this board ever eat anywhere that isn't a steak house?
why would you eat anything that isn't dead cow other then bacon. your lifes diet should be bacon and steak or steak and bacon. that is all.

Just do a thread title search for 'restaurant' on TERB. You'll have 100's of suggestions to draw from if not 1000's.

Hopefully on Your Cock
Moxie's is great, at the Sandman Hotel near the airport, there are a few others through the GTA. Relaxed atmosphere, not as casual or cookie-cutter as the Keg. Menu is mainly steak and the waitresses are all amazingly hot at every location.

I think this is the best resource for Toronto restaurants:

http://www.postcity.com/Post-City-Magazines/Kates-Top-100/Top-100/

Joanne Kates is the food critic for the Globe and Mail. She has been writing about Toronto restaurants since before most SPs were born. She grew up in a restaurant family and is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu school in Paris. She knows whereof she speaks, although she can be a bit cranky at times. (See her review of Canoe.) I think one of her top 100, Grand Chinese Cuisine, is actually near the airport.

Recently dined at O&B located in the old Shopsy's at Yonge and Front. Food and service were excellent. Prices not bad either. Very nice restaurant and attached bar area. Mixed suit and casual crowd.

On Derry Road, about 1km from Airport road is Verdi, also a small banquet/convention hall, the small restaurant out front is about the most surprising small gem in the entire Airport area. Sit down restaurant, attentive service.

Lots of Indian restaurants in the area, from excellent to dump. BBQ Hut in small strip mall at Derry and Goreway is excellent, just ignore the Mcdonlad's ambience, it truly is excellent.

Zet's on Airport road opposite runway is excellent diner 24 hours. Emphasis on diner. Steaks OK, peameal on bun is best. Sometimes humerous late night entertainment as area strippers get off work and order their pimps and loser boyfriends to feed them, working girlz gotta eat. Pilots and stewerdesses too. Ask for the frosty mug!
