What if ....... the Bloc got into power due to a low turn-out, OMG!!!!!

Liberal Izzy is just a moron, you have to give him credit for that

PC Harper might become the new Gaddafi if given a majority

We need a PC minority

There will be one good result from this election; it will be another minority and the Grits and Tories will boot out their leaders for not getting the job done. Hopefully the next batch will be better.

The Conservative government is in contempt of Parliament, a report by a committee of MPs tabled Monday concludes.

The government's failure to produce all documents that had been requested from it or to provide a satisfactory explanation for withholding them impedes the ability of MPs to carry out their duties, the report said, and the government is therefore in contempt.

This contempt report — a first in the history of Canada and the Commonwealth — is the result of the Harper regime's abuse of power," Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said in a statement. He added that the finding undermines the credibility of the federal budget that is set to be delivered Tuesday, because the government can't be trusted.

As voted by the opposition MPs - do we really expect that the Libs, Dips and the Blocs would have voted any other way?

In fact, Trudeau had real contempt for parliament - did he not say that backbenchers were nobodies?

Well, seeing as this election is likely to cost less that the lifetime cost of 1 or 2 of Harper's 'no-bid' jets I'm OK with it. :p

I'm a loyal NDPer, but I think this election could be interesting:
-The Cons have real dirt on them for the first time: Poorly costed jets and prisons, the Oda 'Not' affair, high level people leaving, that budding scandal featuring an adviser and an escort, etc.
-Iggy is at a low, but it may make it easy for him to exceed expectations. (Though I loathe him as soft social left and centre right economically, and I think being pro-Iraq War should disqualify anybody.)
-Between the cancer and a fractured hip Jack isn't well, and there's a decent chance the NDP could make decent gains if the Cons and Libs go too negative on each other.
-The Cons are bleeding out in Quebec and are doubling down on Ontario, though Ford's win may not mean what they think it means.
-The Bloc stands a decent chance of modest gains, especially with neither the Cons nor Libs doing well in Quebec.

All and all, I think this election will either be a shocker (one way or another, and I wouldn't dare try to call it), or utter status quo, with nothing in between.

I won't be surprised if the status quo remains the same.

Harper's stealth agenda is the continual 'Americanization' of Canada
As well as sucking up to influential countries for employment
(since he's too young to retire)

It looks like a majority win for the conservative party
If they can find 30 more seats in Alberta, or apathy wins, maybe. :p

None of the "scandals" the opposition parties are bringing up are truly scandalous. They are mired in archaic procedural protocols and/or word twisting. There is no Watergate scandal that causes Canadians to actually think the Conservatives are slimy, no matter how much the Harper-haters want it to be. Canadians in general are happy with their economic situation in comparison to their American neighbours, and are pissed off at the opposition parties for forcing another election. Cons will get another minority, Iggy will leave, Harper will stay, and the games start all over again.

RUBBISH... we had a cabinet member altering documents on the sly to deny charitable funds on a partisan basis.. that is pretty much FRAUD. And it is a fraud perpetrated against vulnerable citizens. Also you have a refusal to disclose information requested by parliament. If a government won't respond to a request from a majority of parliament, you may as well chuck out our whole system of govt.

For 5 years the CONS have been in power and we continually hear about the 'Hidden agenda"...

WHAT HIDDEN AGENDA????
HArper has not and will not go near Gay marriage, abortion - all the left issues.

As an economist - along with Flaherty - they have done a marvelous job.....

And I'm tired of hearing about how he cannot be trusted...and hidden agenda....bla bla bla.

I WILL MAKE THE PREDICTION HERE..RIGHT NOW....CONSERVATIVES WIN HANDILY!!

And what are you guys talking about with the...Americanization of Canada...
Frick..we are already more left than OBAMA...so that theory carries no weight with me!!

How have they done a fabulous job? We quickly forget that the opposition DEMANDED Harpo and his clowns created the stimulous package and greatly enlarge it. We also forget that Harpo squandered the surplus so the stimulous package resulted in the largest deficits in history. We also need to note that right up to the 11th hour Flaherty had NO CLUE any crisis was about to happen even though the US was in recession. The opposition also demanded an extension in EI benefits... NONE OF THIS would have happened with a Harpo majority.
