My reasoning is that if this change were made it would be very clear to everyone the tradeoff, less income tax, much higher sales tax, employees would demand that extra pay to compensate them for the sales tax they would need to pay. Employers would see no difference paying SSN and FICA vs paying the employee. From the employers perspective it's cost neutral to give those employees a raise.

I would even support raising the minimum wage by that amount to make sure that money made it to the most vulnerable employees.

OTB
Again, you're being delusional. I couldn't care less what you say you would do, I'd rather deal with reality. So you're saying that employees would demand that extra savings the employer would enjoy and get it? You're for employee rights all of a sudden? You're pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining again, OTB. In this economy the employer would have no incentive to give that money back. Why would they? Because they are nice guys? It would be cost neutral. You think that's going to make them do the right thing? You make me laugh.

You're delusional, and have nothing to offer to back up what you are saying. Something taken away, usually stays taken away, especially when it deals with money. Sorry OTB, you lost this round.

You are speaking form an accountants perspective and would likely recommend to you clients to keep the cash.

Think about it they would be adding that to their bottom line and for a change paying tax on it.

Your motivation is clearly industry driven.

Pappy, no real offense, but could you get into the habit of thinking about how you form sentences before you post? It would really help. I'm not an accountant pappy, but I can imagine how many businesses would react. They wouldn't all of a sudden kick back that money to their employees. Why would they?

First and foremost you are acting as if this plan is about to be enacted.

As most Americans know, only Congress and the Senate can pass a Bill.

I would be less worried about Cain winning and more worried about Nancy and crew losing.

That's exactly what the POTUS is suggesting, not a shared sacrifice but more of an investment from those who already pay most of the taxes so a majority of Americas can receive their benefits without the burden of funding their government. The weak minded, math challenged have been tricked into thinking the rich are not paying their fair share when in reality the rich are doing all the paying.....

OTB
Oh please.

Would you support a national sales tax then? Say 7%.

Largely inescapable and everyone pays.

I think that would be wise actually, part of the 9-9-9 plan that I like.

He came up with his plan on his own, without running it by any professional economists, and his only consultant on this was a financial advisor from Cleveland, who only has a degree in accounting. No, really. Hey, that's in your neighborhood. Maybe you know the guy.

One rainy afternoon, the good ol' boys sat down and asked themselves the question: "How can we better screw the poor people?"

And the answer is......................keep voting dem and liberal.

Conservatives and Republicans want to create jobs.
Libs and deems want to create programs.

Sorta like the give a man a fish and feed him for a day, thus making him dependent on you for his survival.

Teach a man to fish and he can walk away independent of you and move on in life, secure in the fact he can feed himself and his family. Without your handouts.
