Wait. They're still building more condos there.Yonge street between Hillcrest (just N of Sheppard) and the 401 is an absolute nightmare during rush hour. That intersection, and entire neighborhood actually, is a perfect example of how to not build condos. About 10 towers that all use one road to exit onto Yonge. Plus, that one stretch of Yonge has about 6 traffic lights in about 1km.
I like the idea of them, but there are so many bad drivers in Toronto it would probably create more problems than it would solve. I've driven all over Canada and the US, and by far the worst place I've driven is the GTA. And that includes Los Angeles, the Bay Area and even NYC. I'd say Vancouver is a close second, but GTA has the worst drivers. I'm not sure exactly why that is, but it is...Anyone here like the idea of roundabouts?
Although quite simple to use and quite popular and effective and efficient in Britain, may not be suited for Canada.Anyone here like the idea of roundabouts?
The construction must be staged in order to allow construction to keep moving. Sometimes as much as 8 stages. This means doing everyting 8 times.Westbound 401 and Weston Road.
Mainly because traffic jams caused by road construction that's been going on for about 5 years and nothing ever seems to get done.
Why does it always seem to take years, and years and years and years for highway crews to finish fixing whatever it is they're fixing.
Government must be supervising it or something.

It would be far simpler to just remove and replace the bridge in question at Weston Road in 1 shot, but closing the 401 is not an option.
The work would have been designed by an Engineering Consultant in the private sector, constructed by a private sector Contractor, and supervised by a different Engineering Consultant, again in the private sector.
