Assuming they can get a visa, which can be very questionable.

...or if they can afford any sort of travel. For the average Cuban National with no relatives abroad or friends to back him up, the lifting of travel restrictions means nothing since he'll never have the $$$ for it anyway.

Even for those who will have relatives or friends abroad pay for their fare, they are in the vast minority and the process is daunting.

Actually...I believe the biggest problem is whether the Canadian government will give them a visa to enter this country.

Bad, Bad, Bad Idea.

As bad as it gets.
Agreed. I'm going back last week November into the first week of December.

I know of a lovely Cuban gal whose sister married a Mexican and lives there. I wonder if she can visit her sister. She would pay for it using the money she makes working at the clubs or her sugar-daddies (she's truly a step above other girls).

I wonder if this will result in more cases of 'mail order' Cuban brides to Canada ...
It would be upto the cdn government as per my other post. The government decides if they will grant the visa. All that has really happened is that some of the cost and red tape on the cuban side has been reduced.

Listen to Senor Draper. Why oh why do you want them here? They will be corrupted by North American ways. In Cuba, YOU are Tony Montana amigo! Up here, your status is below women, children and family pets.

Even though I wouldn't do it (bring a lady up here anytime soon), I can still understand why. The environment up here is much nicer even though we don't have the beaches. In Havana for example, the girls are cool but mostly everything else I experienced down there stinks - literally. The air is filled with diesel fuel from the oil American cars and the food for the most part sucks. I never like any place where you can't drink tap water and at least up here, the police won't hassle the girls.

...or you could be the god who brought them to a place so much nicer than their home, showing them a little bit of comparative paradise, prompting the young ladies to do their very best to satisfy you and convince you to give them a place here....

But that would require a woman to show gratitude, which may or may not be possible. J/k. Mostly.

There are countless stories of chicas and chicos who come up her with a tourist supposedly to start a new life together, but only to divorce them and re-unite with their S.O.'s and sponsor their families here too.

One great gal I know won't ever admit she is a mama in a relationship even though I tell her I don't care.

A high school friend of mine married a Cuban. I should check his status on FB to see how that's going.

There are ladies who do settle here with someone and everything is peachy. But usually, hardworking ladies who meet their turista at hotels or restaurants.

If you meet them at the clubs (so called club girls who are gorgeous, clean and charming - the fast women), they usually have ulterior motives which shouldn't surprise you.

I know of only ONE successful case between a Canadian and a Cuban - actually two but I'll get to the second one later. There's a Italian guy in Montreal who married a Cuban and they have been married for over ten years. However, there was a brief split a few years ago when she went back to Cuba but all appears to be well now.

The other case is actually a Canadian woman from PEI who married a Cuban male. She's been living down in Havana with him for the last 15 years and together they run her family's travel tours satellite office down there (head office is still based out of PEI).

But other than these two cases, I really have not heard of any other successful ones that lasted. I know of one Columbian lady here who originally came to Canada because of marrying a Canadian. But she's since been married and divorced three times. Married another Canuck two years ago.

Draper, can you elaborate a bit ...i dont see the harm in arranging with a girl i know to come stay with me a month ..we are not talking marriage here. give me the inside stuff on why this is not a good idea. I mean its short term and they know upfront, what damage can a cuban woman do to me in this case ?

I am also interested in knowing what sort of trouble I could get if the girl decides not to go back to Cuba after coming to Canada as a tourist?

Do you really think some Cuban girl is going to get on a plane, finally get out of Cuba and then, one month later just gingerly get back on a plane and willfully return?

You're dreaming!

She'll take off as soon as she's here and find Cuban friends in Canada (she'll have looked into this from there before she gets here) then she'll disappear on you and when it's established she's here illegally, you're the one LE will squeeze for answers since you brought her here in the first place. Your name will now be attached to a file of a 'non-desireable' and you'll end up having a series of conversations that you wish you had nothing to do with.

I've seen this happen with three of my Toronto friends and my own Cuban male friends (both here and there) advise against doing this themselves.

+1

Glad to see there are still people with a lot of sense
