My apologies.....OBVIOUSLY.....I meant to say Harper kicked the Conservative Senators out of the CONSERVATIVE CAUCUS..and not the Senate. Quite CLEARLY, the are still in the Senate. Thanks for allowing me to set the record clear, as I always like to be accurate, clear, truthful and correct with my remarks. :)

I had been questioning if or when Mr HARB, under question for $230,000 was being removed from the LIberal Caucus. Let us not forget he too has already paid back $51,000 of the $230,000 claimed to be owed. His ongoing audit will determine the outcome.

The stink keeps growing. On Harper's ascension to PM conservative senators were no longer sent to the general person in charge of instructing new senators but to their very own 'boot camp' where they were told to spend money for partisan purposes. Hmmmmmm wonder who gave THAT instruction.

I did mention margerine lebreton, seems like she's involved here too.

right on Garg.....looks like all Senators, Harb and all others, will get full scrutiny back to 2005.

This will allow Harper, if findings are negative, to finally abolish the Senate.

Grounds for abolishing the Senate Frank, breath deeply man. There will be a reckoning, but it won't lead to abolition. I put to you that not one member on TERB has never cheated on his taxes or for those who have them, massaged their expense accounts. Many will have done it regularly. If Harper makes abolition a choice, it will be little more than him taking the chicken shit easy way out, as it has 'never' been his governments plan to do so. From day one, he has talked about reform, not abolition.

Tkachuk et al can backpedal all they want but this looks to me like a clear cut incidence of conspiracy to commit fraud against taxpayers.

Where in the fuck do you get conspiracy out of what you posted in #80? They warned them. They know they can be audited. To me, some Senators were too greedy but it's not necessarily a conspiracy or the fault of the PM.

I don't see this as completely the fault of the PM, but he as the person who leads the party that put appointed some of these people, he has some responsibility for their actions.

In the regular world, if I am a manager of a company, and I hire one guy who steals money from the company, I might be ok. But if I hire 2, 3, 4 or more
guys who are doing this, then I am pretty sure that my employer will not only have serious doubts about my work, they might just fire me.

I think the use of 'some' might be an understatement. He's appointed 58 of the 65 Conservative Senators presently in the Senate of the total 105 Senators. His idea of reform is a joke and any thing he says regarding reform is hypocritical.

Wow... 58 out of 65, I did not know the number. I guess it all depends on his idea of Senate reform. Obviously by senate reform he meant that he was going to put his own people in there to scoop some of that gravy. :)

Why are these crooks not fired? Who has that responsibility? If you are where found stealing from our employer, we would have been shown the door.

He doesn't have responsibility just because he appointed them, BUT action IS being taken regardless of political stripe.

The Liberals started the patronage appointments, and may have abused the privilege in the past.

Harper is working within the system and perhaps has no choice.

yes harper is taking the high road. and he didn't too many choices to select from his friends who to appoint to the senate. he' was probably running out of friends he owed favors to...

he didn't have any options. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_had_an_option,_sir

yes the liberal started it, and the conservatives will finish it by appointing an all conservative senate. they just have to stop kicking out their appointees out of the caucus

If you are going to do patronage appointments, at least appoint boring respectable people.

Appointing violent sex criminals, thieves, and con artists is bad for PR. Almost as bad as surrounding yourself with a political staff of crack dealers and gangsters.

It's not that important who started it, but to make that many appointment 'after' wailing on about them is really stupid. Trudeau appointed 7 Conservative Senators, 3 Independent and an SC . How many opposition Senators were appointed by Harper, Mulroney, Clark, or Campbell? I'll help, none.

No choice? Please.
