Three rockets fired from Gaza explode in open areas in Ashkelon and surrounding area

Two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel on Thursday evening. The first rocket exploded in the Ashkelon area in an open area and the second one also landed in an open area Eshkol Regional Council later in the evening.
No injury or damage was reported.

Prior to first the rocket's landing, a Code Red missile alert siren went off in Ashkelon and surrounding areas.

Contrary to reports in a number of Israeli media outlets, the IDF confirmed that there was no interception of the rocket by the Iron Dome rocket defense system.

Last week the Iron Dome rocket defense system intercepted a rocket over the southern city of Eilat. There were no reports of injuries or damage in that attack.

The Sinai-based jihadist organization Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has claimed credit for the Eilat attack.

B. All Palestinian factions shall stop all hostilities from the Gaza Strip against Israel including rocket attacks and all attacks along the border.

C. Opening the crossings and facilitating the movements of people and transfer of goods and refraining from restricting residents' free movements and targeting residents in border areas and procedures of implementation shall be dealt with after 24 hours from the start of the ceasefire.

D. Other matters as may be requested shall be addressed.

2: Implementation mechanisms:

A. Setting up the zero hour for the ceasefire understanding to enter into effect.

B. Egypt shall receive assurances from each party that the party commits to what was agreed upon.

C. Each party shall commit itself not to perform any acts that would breach this understanding. In case of any observations Egypt as the sponsor of this understanding shall be informed to follow up.

Members of Fatah, the party of Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, have reportedly raided Arab villages in "Area C", just north-west of Jerusalem, opening fire with automatic rifles. The clashes are reportedly part of internal power struggles within the party

The Arab news source Ajnad News reports that residents of the villages Katane, Bidu, and Beit Anan, which lie just outside of Jerusalem, feel "insecure" after automatic gunfire rent the still night air.

Residents relate that the fire from automatic weapons was different from recent celebratory gunfire commemorating the founding of the Arab-nationalist Fatah at the beginning of the secular year. This time, they said, the gunfire stemmed from conflict between two rival Fatah factions in the villages.
