Can't wait for Season IV.

Don't know how you can top Season III, but we'll see.

It's not a spoiler clip. Just some great excerpts, and interesting interviews with the stars and the producers.

(At least the above clip.)

My sentiments exactly but for a different reason. I prefer to hold off watching until the season is over and then bit-torrent and watch them together. I detest cliff hangers and waiting for a next show. Can I do it again with this show ... hmmm if I keep it out of mind and there isn't much gossip by the co-workers.

between a rock and a hard place
Some have never seen the series, so won't include a single spoiler. But upon seeing the 'Ned Stark incident', I was hooked like an addict to this series. There are no favorites by the writer, those in power one minute, are gone in seconds and a new player steps up. I love the books and series.

Now reading the books, won't ease the pain. Only make it worse. I know the events of the upcoming season, but stuck like many waiting for the next two book releases.
Game of Thrones - 1996
A Clash of Kings - 1999
A Storm of Swords - 2000
A Dance with Dragons
The Winds of Winter (Forthcoming)
A Dream of Spring (Forthcoming)

I've read that though there is pressure to complete The Winds of Winter, that it won't be out before 2015. That means the final book, more geared to the north, might not come until 2017-2020!!
I really wish these had all been written prior to the HBO series starting.

My only two gripes about the Game of Thrones
- Too long between book releases
- Not enough episodes each season (10 per season) Either make them 2hrs, or 20 episodes.

The feel, the effort, the budget is like not other show on tv. The books, you can absolutely get lost in them.
You're missing A Feast For Crows (I think it's #3). I've read that GRRM has roughed out the plotlines through the end of the series just in case he dies before he can complete the writing.

I don't think that's good for the books or series. For example the popularity of certain characters will obviously make GRRM change their fates in the books to their favour due to the series. I agree the tv show should've started after they were all done. Basically cause of the show he is writing for the fans and not himself.

Number 4 actually. But GRRM has so many plotlines and characters going that parts of the fourth book overlap events in the third and parts of the fifth book (Dance With Dragons) overlap with parts of the fourth and.. you get the picture. Then there's the fanzines and blogs where the real zealots analyze and theorize over the minutest detail of the GOT universe which is already fleshed out in mind-boggling detail. I only looked at those a few times. You only have so many years in a lifetime, y'know.

Ya Im on the fourth book its amazing. I loved the series on tv but imho the books are better.
Damn, if you like the fourth book, you're a true fan lol. The fourth book is generally known as the weakest in the series to date.

This is one of few series where I think I enjoy the on-screen adaptation to the book series more than the actual books. Not that I don't also like the books.

I'm midway through the 3rd season... ADDICTING!

And some seriously hot women all over the place in it!

Loved the scene in the cave with John Snow and Ygritte!

It's not going to matter. GRRM has stated in numerous interviews that if he should die before finishing "A Song Of Ice And Fire", the books will die with him. He has, however, given some major plotlines to the producers of the television show.
I've stopped reading "A Dance With Dragons" with only 5 or 6 chapters left. With the next book not out until maybe 2015 or 2016 and the "final" book another 5 or so years after, I'll probably wait until the series is finished before picking up the books again. GRRM has stated that he may need an 8th book if he cannot end things in "A Dream of Spring" to his satisfaction! Hopefully, HBO can put enough pressure on him to hurry the f%#k up!! It has been almost 18 years since "Game of Thrones" was first published....

This reminds me of Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" , which I stopped reading after book eight in 1998. RJ died in 2007 while working on what was to be the 12th and final book of the series. According to his wishes, another author was brought in to finish the final book, which turned out to be 3 books. The 14th and final book came out in 2013. That is a span of almost 23 years from the first book to the last. I will probably revisit "The Wheel of Time."
