The anthropic principle is the philosophical consideration that observations of the physical Universe must be compatible with the conscious life that observes it. Some proponents of the anthropic principle reason that it explains why the Universe has the age and the fundamental physical constants necessary to accommodate conscious life. As a result, they believe it is unremarkable that the universe's fundamental constants happen to fall within the narrow range thought to be compatible with life(weak anthropic principle IE no God is required for life).

The strong anthropic principle states that this is all the case because the Universe is compelled for conscious life to eventually emerge IE a God has designed it. Critics of the SAP argue in favor of a weak anthropic principle(similar to the one above) which states that the universe's ostensible fine tuning is the result of selection bias: i.e., only in a universe capable of eventually supporting life will there be living beings capable of observing any such fine tuning, while a universe less compatible with life will go unbeheld ( so no designer is required).

Even if we believe in a "universe designer" , an intelligence behind the the cosmological constant, it would be a true stretch to believe in the constraints of a biblical god. It is not god that many of us reject..it is the god imposed upon us by small minded religious dictators that seek to control humans. Biblical laws heaven and hell were created by religions, many laws are universal and dictate positive and moral messages. However, much of religion is toxic and responsible for large swaths of human suffering all in the name of god. And finally if there is a grand designer...what has he done for us lately?

as i see it, the odds of the universe being the way it is that allows us to exist is so infinitesimally small it is beyond our grasp to comprehend such smallness

such a smallness is impossible, therefore something designed it (the universe)

the counter to this argument is there are infinite universes therefore a small percentage of them will allow for life

As small as that percentage is, it is also an infinity

Considering how many Goldilock planets there are in the universe, the chance of things happening by happenstance is not that long, compared to other cosmic occurrences.

no

we are talking about how is it that the universe is capable of creating planets that are capable of creating life

the odds of the universe having laws that allow for life, out of all the laws that could be, is so infinitesimally small it is beyond our grasp to comprehend such smallness

It the same, the raw material dust particles which move around in space, colliding and finding a proper distance from a star where the temperature is just right to allow the formation and survival of the basic chemicals for life, Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen, as we know it and the rest is history. The shear numbers of possible suitable interactions makes it better than just 'shit happens'. Considering the billions and billions and billions of interactions that occur every second in the universe, the expectations of something happening is pretty good.

From my impression, it is a fancy way of yet redefining intelligent design. It states that the conditions and likelihood that support life occurring in the universe are so specific and the probability so unlikely, obviously the conditions must have been set by intelligent design (God).

So if we bring the scope down to events on the earth - the odds of winning the lottery are very, very remote and thus if you do win, you won by intelligent design and God hates every other player. Basically every game of chance is rigged by God.

What a ridiculous argument - 'If all live was sleeping at the same time, there would be no conscious life, so there would be no universe. If one person awakened, however, everything would pop into place, for his sole benefit'. It's like saying life did not exist prior to solipsism.

Never heard of any lottery winner who thanked God for their fortune.
Somehow there are godly people who show gratitude to God for trivial
things like good weather.

You can not scientifically prove god. Either you have faith or you don't. The rest is just people trying to make themselves feel better.
